When starting the laptop there is screen, no light just a black display.
My son had a compaq Presario v2000 laptop, suddenly, he told me, the screen is starting to turn black, I believe it was the saver screen but it wasn't, today he brought to me the computer in black; I pressed for 20 seconds the turn on button until the power went off then I started it again and it showed the normal screen. After a while it went black again, I tried to do the same but it doesn't work at all. You can see in the black screen some lines like windown name in the background of the main screen but nothing else.

no its not a driver you have a video chip getting ready to fail.on the v2000 it intergrated in to the mother board. soon you will be joining many other compaq v2000 and m2000 owners in the search for a mother board compaq has updated part numbers it a whole differant board for these units due to having a common failure rate of the original mother boards.Compaq know there was a over heating of the video chip that leads to failure but has not offered any assistance to there customers. email@example.com
sounds like you have a loose connection ....either into the screen or into the motherboard....the connection between board and screen runs through the hinge brackets and often comes loose after machine has been opened and closed a lot.....need to be comfortable opening up laptops to check the cables as it can be tricky to get to the back of the screen where the end of the ribbon cable is..
