Received my new Nikon s6000 today, put to charge following users guide, but it is not charging. There is no green light at all that would indicate if my camera is charging. Should i return the camera or is there anything i can do? Thank you, Vita.

Vita, after you connect the camera to the USB cable, make sure the battery door is closed in order for your camera to charge.

Battery exhausted won't charge

even new batteries can die. I only can advice you to try to start a charge cycle a few times in a row, but if the charger does not indicate it is charging, I'm afraid you really have to buy a new battery.
I have a Nikon battery that is almost 3 years off age and in the camera it says capacity 100% NEW. But it is used on a regular base and charged regular.

My battery was dead, so I plugged the charging adapter into the camera and the wall socket. The on/off button began blinking green in the ring around the button. I took the battery out and replaced it,...

You need to check the date of manufacturing of the camera and battery and is this is an OLD stock then the battery can loose the quality as a longer shelf life will allow back EMF to develop and so there will be low current drain into the battery.
So please check this out. Also check the voltage on the charger unit. is low this must be checked.
Finally if the camer is NEW then you must register a serious complaint for replacement of the battery/camera , is there is further problems.

Have you tried checking if the battery door is completely shut and flush with the body of the camera? Try cleaning the contacts where the batteries touch and make sure that there isn't any dust or dirt obstructing the plates. If your camera still doesn't turn on, the battery has probably short-circuited or fried. You can easily order another one for under $10 via Amazon here:
Good luck.

My brand new Nikon s6000 won't charge, turn on, it does nothing but lay there and look pretty.

Most of the time the battery does not come charged and manufacturers recomend to charge them for 24 hrs before 1st use or the camera could not recognize it.

Also you can try connect it with the AC-DC adaptor directly if it comes with one just to to test if it works.

I have the charger, but lost the book with how to recharge. Please help Thank you.

There is an error in the instructions provided in the User's Manual and Quick Start Guide for the Coolpix S3000 and S4000. The information contained in the manual and guide instruct the user to plug the UC-E6 USB cable into the camera first before plugging into the AC power supply. This process will not switch the camera power on automatically.

Please follow the steps below in this order only * :
1 - Connect the USB cable UC-E6 to the Charging AC Adapter EH-68P.

2 - Plug the Charging AC Adapter into an electrical outlet.

vinayak_nair_4.jpg3 - Be sure that the camera is turned off and then connect the USB cable UC-E6 to the camera.
vinayak_nair_5.jpgWhen the green LED starts blinking slowly after a few seconds, charging has begun. When the LED goes off, charging is complete.
* If the charging light fails to come on at all, please sure to follow the steps in the correct order detailed above. Connecting with the incorrect order may result in a "no led light" situation.

A newly bought camera is not necessarily fully charged. Read instructions about first charging. Enjoy your camera.

When I plug in my ac adapter into my computer to charge it the green light turns off and won't charge my computer

The diagnostic procedures from the Dell User Guide are as follows:

Total Power Failure When Using a Battery
If an AC adapter is not connected to your computer, the computer's power source
is a battery. If the battery indicator flashes amber or is a steady amber, the
battery needs to be charged. If the battery is flashing green and amber, the
battery may be defective. To troubleshoot this problem, use the following
procedure.
1. Turn off the computer and peripherals, and disconnect them from AC power.
2. Reseat each installed battery by removing it and then replacing it.
3. Turn on the computer. Does the green power indicator light up?
Allow one minute for the computer to initialize its components before checking
for signs of power.
Yes. Continue to step 4.
No. Use the AC adapter to connect your computer to AC power. If the computer
operates normally when using AC power, go to step 7. If the computer does not
boot when using the AC adapter, see the previous subsection, "Total Power
Failure When Using the AC Adapter."
4. Does the battery indicator flash amber or show a a steady amber light?
Yes. The battery needs to be charged. Go step 5.
No. Go to step 7.
5. Connect the computer to AC power, and fully charge the battery.
For instructions, see the topic titled "Charging the Battery" in the online
System User's Guide.
6. As the battery charges, does the green battery indicator light up?
Yes. Go to step 9.
No. Go to step 7.
7. Is the battery indicator flashing green and amber?
Yes. Your computer may be in a hot environment. Charging the battery in this
condition may affect the life span of the battery. Continue to step 8.
No. The problem is resolved.
8. Disconnect the computer from AC power. Is the the battery indicator still
flashing amber?
Yes. You may have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
9. Remove the battery, and press its test button. Is the uppermost indicator in
the charge gauge of the battery flashing?
Yes. You have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
10. If a spare battery is available, fully charge it, and then install it in the
computer.
11. Turn on the computer. Is the power indicator off?
Yes. Your original battery is defective

good luck
