either the bulb/tube has deteriorated. or long shot but happened to our old telly and that was, the power cable solder joints had worn loose.
If you feel capable of yeilding a solder gun then read on.
ANY LOOKING OR OPENING UP OF TV CASES MAY VOID ANY WARRANTIES. YOU MUST UNPLUG ANY POWER LEADS AND AVOID TOUCHING THE TUBE END INSIDE THE UNIT AT ALL COSTS. speech over we shall continue...
remove back of telly and carefully arrange screws in a circle shape to mimic their removal locations. trace the power lead cable physically by following the lead to the motherboard. to the man in the street thats the platform where all the components sit. the cable will be soldered to this board. visually check to see if there is a sound solid solder joint, marrying the two as one. if these are loose then you might be in luck.
resolder joints, cleaning off any residue of flux. replace back cover and power up.
