Question about Maytag Neptune FAV6800AW Top Load Washer

1 Answer

I own FAV6800 model. It does not pump out water after the cycle. When I lifted up the top cover, the whole drum was wobbling like crazy, and the machine could not even spin up to higher rpm. I recently replaced front struts, so that should not be the problem.

You can't get the Service Manual from this site anymore. Servicematters.com has locked down their site for owner access. You can get the SM from other sites. I'm an owner like you and would suggest you visit my post above Clutch Fix. I would also suggest more troubleshooting support at other DIY sites just Google dh1200s you will find me and others to help. You really do need the SM if you are going to DIY the fix........Rich

"" and the machine could not even spin up to higher rpm."" did you observe this in Service Mode? If so than that tells me you have the SM. There is also a Troubleshooting guide in the console if you haven't all ready accessed.

The tub continues to go off balance in spin cycle. Starts out smooth then starts to wobble terribly til the UL shows and shuts down. Support rods are good

There is a little device inside the washer that allows the agitator to spin independent of the drum. If this gets stuck, the washer will try to spin the whole drum instead of just the agitator. This will cause the washer to think the load is too large or out of balance, causing the error code. On some Whirlpools this device is just a washer.

Washer leaks during spin cycle

If the machine is leaking then the bolt on the drum need to be tightened. you can acces them by removing the top or rear cover of the machine. If the machine is wobbling it need to be leveled or a shock absorber or spring connected to the drum has come loose or needs to be replaced

Maytag Neptune Tl washer

Mike, Sorry to hear that, is there any water around the clutch pulley?  With the front panel removed and you put the washer in a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket.  View the Clutch pulley turning CCW and see if is turning true with no wobble? Mine spun off twice before I got it seated properly, and it was in wobble mode until I got it seated properly.   With the water leak issue maybe you can view with the front panel off and a partial fill the leak source. You can always do a quick tub pump out in service mode. As you know unplug the 120VAC to the machine before you poke around in there.  Do you still have the original clutch?  Did you remove the plastic cover and inspect the roller bearings, clutch spring and coupler? Good luck and let’s see what you find. Rich

Washing machine drum is very wobbly

* General tips
* Balance the load
* Level the machine
* Inspect the water pump for a blockage
* Inspect the coupling
* Inspect the transmission
* Adjust the drive belt tension
* Check the motor bearings
* Check the drum brakes

The above are possibly the general remedies for this problem.But possible if the problem still persists after this, possibly the drum bearings might have been damaged during the previous heavy vibrations.Please do post comments.Will be glad to help you out.Good luck.

LG Intellowasher cannot complete spin cycle.

Unplug power cable, remove top cover and inner panel, locate water level sensor on the right with 3 wires and a thin tube, remove the tube and puff into it until you hear water bubbling. This will clear any blockage caused by suds build up. Replace tube, covers and plug back in. It should complete cycles now.

LEAKS AND SQUEAKS

If you suspect the leak is from the main drum seal.
To remove the agitator, remove the softener cap by pulling, look inside the agitator, undo the bolt (4) with long socket extension and then lift out.
5e90500.jpg Not sure if you can see the seal ("O" ring at this point, you may need to remove the inner drum.
Isolate the supply.
Lift the top cover by inserting a flat blade approx 4" in at each side at the front to release the two top clips, top cover will lift and hinge backwards out of the way.
To remove the top ring (13) from the drum, unclip each clip around the top untill released, then remove.
to remove the inner drum (10) , unbolt (7) from the inside, lift out inner drum.

Seal (1) should be visible.
