Download the same exact installation for Skype and then right click and select "Run as Administrator." Now go through the entire setup. Then restart the computer and then use Control Panel to remove Skype. Restart one more time and the problem should be gone!

How do I stop Skype freezing oon my laptop ?

Try This:

CTRL+ALT+Del this will open Windows Task Manager Under Application tab right click on Skype and left click on "Go To Process"
Left click on End Process. this will stop Skype without rebooting the PC.

After opening Skype does ALL programs Freeze? If so then its probly Malware running on the PC.
Reboot the PC into safe mode and run a full scan with your antivirus program.

Good Luck!

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 10. I was able to use Skype without any problem, but recently I can only skype for a certain length of time, approximately 20 - 50 minutes, before the whole computer freezes....

You have explained a problem that seems to be due to heat. An interesting fact is that when you remove it from it's cover you get a bit more time out of it. That confirms the heat theory.

Use it right from the beginning on the desk, the cover prevents proper airflow through the chassis. Even lift it slightly with an pencil or the like. Lift the rear.

Your laptop computer may need to be cleaned of dust/service.

Some-how you need it to run cooler.

Take Care!

My webcam has been working correctly until yesterday after an automatic update on skype it freezes after a few seconds or the video at the other side cannot be seen at all.

I had the same problem.... did an automatic update and right after that when i would go onto skype the other person's video would freeze after 20 to 30 seconds. I was running skype 4.2. I completely uninstalled skype and then downloaded version 5.0. problem solved.

My video freezes about every 20 seconds i have to keep restarting

Could be a bandwith issue, but also try reinstalling Skype.
Sometimes downgrading to an older Skype version can also help.

Incoming Skype Picture Freezes and/or Jumps

You are not the only one. I have a gorup of 6 people, on Vista, XP, with QuickCamPros and other brands and we communicate daily. We are ALL having the same problem as a result of the last Skype update.

It is NOT your system, it's Skype's issue. Do like we do and in the lower right corner of your screen you can report the quality of the call. Keep doing it over and over and maybe they'll do something about it!

My quickcam keeps freezing up!!

Normal 0 How much memory do you have installed in your computer? It may need to be, increased, as this is likely to be the cause of your computer freezing, rebooting, times out, or shutting down.
Hope this is of some help. Bud
