This may be related with a corrupted or bad sector in the msdc more than anything in the iPhone or music player. If you have used this memory a lot, erased and copy many files over time, it may be a good idea to back up and reformat the memory using a low level format so it will take some time to really erase and format the memory. But if the damage sector is hardware or physical and not an error on the format you may need to live with it or replace it. Anyway check with another msdc device and verify if this is related to the particular msdc you are using.

Why does my camera say msdc when I plug it into a charger

Google

make model manual

but....

MSDC stands for Mass Storage Device Class. It is the most significant part of camera, which is required to bond camera and computer. If there is any damage/corruption in internal File System structure of the card then MSDC fails to detect the card, so MSDC read sector or MSDC write sector error in memory card arises.

Msdc not present

MSDC error indicates a file system related error. More often than not it is caused by corrupted file system on the memory card. However it can also occur due to faulty in built memory. To find out which one it is remove the memory card and see if the problem persists and let me know your observation(s).
