Question about Bose Wave Music System CD Shelf System

1 Answer

I have one of the old top-loading wave cd/radios. Last night there was a crackling sound inside and then there was a bang internally and a very small amount of smoke and power failed and it went off. There a smell of burning. What should I do?

Bose will replace this older top-loading CD WAVE model with a newer one for $200 plus $10 shipping. It's a fairly decent deal, considering a new system is $500. Call Bose Service at 800-637-8781

I took mine back to the Bose store and they gave me credit on my Wave that was about ten years old toward a new CD wave radio. I would recommend taking it to the Bose store and see what they can do for you.

I'm sorry that the Bose Wave Radio is not working to your expetations. I have not heard it myself but have heard great reviews of the product. Now why are the disks getting jammed and or stuck. It sounds like it is an internal problem like lubrication possibly. I tried to go to the online help but you need the product info etc to continue. Here is the link that you can contact for help. Hope you get it working again and sorry for you frustration.http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/contact/index.jsp

Water spilt into top of wave radio cd system and it is dead

Bose radios do not have an integrated fuse link. the water has shorted the main board. the best action here is to, replace the entire unit. this can only be done by sending it in to bose. i understand that this is not the option you wanted but, all replacement boards and internal components are not available for consumer purchase.

This repair or, exchange can only be initiated and completed by the manufacture(bose).

Crackling sound

That sounds like an internal fault on your Bose system.

Leave the Bose unplugged from power and from computer for one hour, to get rid of electrostatic charges accumulated inside capacitors.
If that does not get rid of the problem, then there is an internal fault, either a short on speaker wiring, or a fault on the internal amp circuit board.

Bose not working at all

Unfortunately, Bose will not release their schematics of parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of these sets. On their web site, www.bose.com, they offer to repair most Wave sets for $100 or give $200 credit towards the purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend the big bucks though, you might want to check out the new HD radios. Better sound and MUCH lower prices than the Bose.

Non-working CD in Bose wave radio

Try replacing the battery on the bottom of the system - alot of people miss it because you have it constantly plugged into the mains, but replacing this (somehow) re-sets the system, and 9 times out of 10 solves the issue.

Wave CD changer

Could try a CD lens cleaner disc, but this will just as likely get stuck inside. Far better to contact Bose for a repair - sounds like a problem in the changer mechanism
