Question about Kohler Home

1 Answer

My Kohler toilet tank is not filling fully, the water that is filling the tank sounds so loud it sounds as if the sink faucet is running instead of the toilet filling and the bowl does not fill fully and it does not empty completely. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. Mo

Change out the ball **** and float assembly and flapper valve to one of the newer types...
Also you can set the level of water in the tank by an adjustment screw located at the top of the ball ****.
The Flapper valve on the bottom of the tank also needs replacement, that is causing the tank not to drain properly.

I have a hissing toilet. My kohler 4708 fills up, and once this happens, the left side of the tank has a constant hissing sound. When I turn off the water it stops.

Your valve inside the tank has worn down and not allowing the water to stop running. Does the water run over the top of the overflow. If so, then adjust your inlet water to a lower level so it will cut off. If that is ok, then likely the flapper is worn out and needs to be replaced.

Whine or squealing from tank when Kohler Santa Rosa toilet is flushed.

Sounds like an air lock is making the water fill in squeeze thru the piping. C if u can undo the piping from the tap below the tank and take out tank and try flushing the unit thru from the out side fill pipe. U may hv something stuck in the pipe line. cheers

I have what is known as a kohler ultraflush on my bill of sale, that is a 2 piece elongated model. Not sure if it's called the Cimmaron or not. Anyway, it's not flushing with the same force that it did...

Hi, W/D here.

Three things can affect the flushing force of an ultraflush:
1. The amount of water going into the bowl from the tank. Check to make suer that the water level in the tank is up to the fill line. Normally the line is cast into the inside of the tank, but may be on the tube. Adjust if low.
2. The supply water pressure. An ultraflush requires 25 psig pressure to provide the assist in flushing. Make sure that your toilet water supply line valve (at the wall) is fully open. If so, check your water supply pressure. The easiest way is to install a gauge on an outside faucet (you can get a gauge in the sprinkler section of the hardware store, and it attaches to a faucet). You may need to replace your flexible water supply line; they can collapse internally, or get debris in them.
3. Restrictions in the outflow. A bit harder to check, but the tell-tale sign would be if the water level rises significantly, and drains slowly.
My best guess is that the assist pressure is low, and I'd look for restrictions in the supply side first.

Best regards, --W/D--

Water in bowl. water level almost below where bowl saris to widen! , Kohler cimmarron - Toilet tank is full, all water flushes out of tank when flushed it's been this way since we installed it

If I understand correctly, your water level inside the bowl is 3 or 4 inches from the top of toilet seat?
Sounds peculiar to have that water level since you would get splashing etc.
That is not sanitary, and would be a code violation.
Look at side profile of tank.
Look at porcelain behind bowl and you can see outline of "s trap."
This is the internal trap that each toilet has built in.
Purpose of trap is to a) set water level inside bowl and b) just like a sink trap, seal pipe from sewer air from entering home.
Photo shows trap on sample toilet, with line showing approximate level of water inside bowl.
Since photo is at an angle, the line appears to go downward instead of level. Again the line is approximation, and photo intended to show where you can look on your toilet.
Your tank should have similar s-trap feature. From the feature on your tank, you can see what level water is intended to be inside bowl.
Some more expensive tanks, outline of s-trap is not apparent.

If the water level is so high that you experience unsanitary conditions, this is a code violation, and toilet should be replaced.

Toilet fill runs periodically works well but wastes water

Sounds like your flapper is leaking causing the water in the tank to lower until it triggers the fill valve. Replace the flapper (they're cheap and wear out easily).

Toilet tank fill valve sprays water towards lid

Hi bpmorr1,

It may be that the fill tube has come disconnected . It runs from the top of the fill valve to the overflow. The overflow is the tube that runs up the middle of the tank. The fill tube runs from the top of the fill valve to the top of the overflow tube. Kohler has a little clip that can sometimes come undone and cause spraying.

If that doesn't do it, turn the water off to the toilet and take off the tank lid. Partially open valve ( Slowly). Locate where spray is coming from. If it is in the area on top of the fill valve then yes, buy anew one. ( Fluidmaster )

Please rate this response and good luck, Phil
