I would lean more towards your ignition switch being bad. Although you could be right I have not seen that problem very often. More often than not its the ignition switch. Good luck.

Ignition switch

The lock cylinder where the key goes in, does not affect your isssue. The ignition switch with the electrical connections is what you need to replace.

My vacuum wont turn on.

It sounds like you may have a faulty on/off switch. I suggest if you are not familiar with electricity please have someone that you know "is" to do the following. "UNPLUG" your vacuum and disconnect thee white wire coming out of the on/off switch. With a volt meter dial the meter to OHM's and hold one lead to the disconnected wire coming out of the switch and with thee other lead from the meter touch the metal housing of the motor. Click the on/off switch and if the numbers zero out your switch is good if the numbers on the meter stay the same chances are your on/off switch is bad. If the switch is good then the cost for a new motor is more than a new vacuum. Good luck

I cannot crank my coleman powermate generator.

If the engine will not crank-if it has an electric start, first check the battery and connections to the starter and ground. If the battery is good and the connections are clean and tight, then I would check the ignition switch. If it clicks once when the key is turned to the start position, check for a seized crankshaft (see below) If it does not click, then it could be the starter, solenoid, or the ignition switch. If it has a manual pull start, and it will not pull, check to make sure the crankshaft can turn freely and if not, disconnect the pull starter and check it again-if it turns freely the rope start mechanism is hung up-it must be freed up before you can pull start it. If the crankshaft will not turn at all you probably have a serious problem that will require a major teardown.

Wipers wont work

1.  Turn on your wipers and pop your hood.   2.  If you hear you wiper motor, then you do not need to check your fuses. 3.  If your wiper arms are moving freely, then your linkage from the wiper arms to the motor is disconnected and possibly broken.   4.  If the problem is electrical, do the following:      1.  Check the fuse, and check for power at the fuse.      2.  Check the wiper motor for ground. For a complete circuit, you need power going in and ground               coming out.  Check electrical connections for corrosion or poor connections.       3.  Get a wiring schematic and trace power to the wiper motor starting at the fuse box in the                       following order:           Fuse box           wiper switch           wiper motor      4.  In the rarest of cases a wiper motor or wiper switch is at fault.  I do not recommend replacing                 anything unless you have proof that the part is faulty. (ie. power going into the switch but nothing           coming out.)
