Over time my picture has gotten dimmer and the colors have become rather washed out. Tried adjusting, with unsatisfactory results.

I have the same problem. When watching a movie or TV show where the scenen is dark, like at night, you cannot see hardly anything.

My tv is about 8-9 years old & getting dark (I also can not see a thing when it is a dark scene). I very lightly wiped the bulbs off & the clarity seemed a little better afterwards, but still dark.

All of my pictures are too dark.  I've tried the adjustments and it is still dark.

Same problem for me. Dark scenes are poor. I cranked up the brightness just to play some video games. I opened my set up and cleaned the mirror and the 3 lenses. It helped some, but I'm still disappointed. Any advice out there?

THe coolant in the CRTs most likely needs to be replaced. this is a very common problem in Phillips and magnavox rear projection TVs.

Depending how long you have owned it and if a Lamp was ever replaced, it probably needs to be replaced. You can check with SONY at
1800-222-SONY and see if they could sell and send you one.
Hope this helps,

It sounds like you need to buy a new bulb, this is what usually happens when the bulb is burning out this bulbs are made to last 6000-8000 life hours

Color settings for an older panasonic tv trying to adjust the color setting for this older panasonic tv, it seems the dark colors are really dark and there faces are really red. Model# CT-32g19j

This is not a projection set; but a picture tube set or CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) technology. If the set is working correctly you should be able to go into the menu and set the color, brilliance and contrast to get the right color and picture intensity. If the controls don't give you what is correct viewing it may be over age and need an adjustment of the internal chroma circuits - which may cost more than the set is worth since it is quite old. Hope this helsp.

sounds like your red picture tube (CRT) has developed a short. You will need a new CRTthey are very exspensive if they are still available. However I have a source for used Phillips picture tubes if you would like me to post a link. Let me know.
