- Does your laptop have a card reader? Try plugging your SD card directly into the slot.
- Try another USB cable
- Purchase a USB card reader similar to the one posted below

My dell laptop .. latitude d600 "ic" has been melted...i want to know the ic number??

The "melted" IC - this has shorted out, and something has cause this to happen, even if you replaced it, it could short out the new IC unless you identify the cause.
The D600 is an old laptop, it would be better to put your money towards a new laptop.
You could remove the hard drive and put it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive..

No sound card - driver cannot set up

The d600 is not a MAC, but if the computer has a headphone output, it has a soundcard. You should go to hardware profile, your soundcard will be listed there.

Interesting problem

make sure the pins going to the usb port on it are all ok and they are not touching then, find someone with a similar D600 and relace your mem card and see if there is a difference, then try the battery and also note any difference. if its the battery, wich is likely, get it replaced, however there are cases of ic damage from faulty usb's, so if a working battery or mem/flash card dont work, send it to a repair man, after backing up all your personal stuff onto computer via BLUETOOTH. good luck!
