Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

Hi everyone! I have a pioneer pdp-5071pu 50'' plasma. I'm having a screen/picture problem. 2/3 of the screen is good picture (top),then just below half screen there are two grainy green lines, then below the lines the top picture is repeated in very poor quality. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? I'm completely in the dark.

The Y Lower buffer is the most likely culprit. I would first try to firmly tap on the TV... about 3" below the center line on the right side front (not on the screen but right next to the screen). The Y Lower connector is there and it could be just loose. I have a Philips 50" plasma that the lower half went out and a gentle tap fixed it once. I took it apart and tightened the connectors by loosening the screws and pushing the Y Lower buffer toward the Y Main board while tightening the screws back. No problem with it since. But sometimes the buffers go bad on these units and need to be replaced. Some people replace the upper and lower at the same time while others say just replace the bad one.

Good luck and let me know what you find!

Hi Joey! Thank you so much for your response. I turned the TV on and attempted the tap method... unfortunately it didn't seem to do anything. Sounds like it would be the Y buffer then? Any idea what I should be looking at in terms of buying a replacement and is it called the Y buffer on all units as a replacement part?

My advice isn't going to help you on this unit. Sorry! There are no upper and lower buffers in this model from what I see. I looked at a Philips and not a Pioneer. Sorry again! Let me do a little research tomorrow and I'll see what I can come up with.

MyPDP-5071PU has all of a sudden lost blue and yellow color. The picture is great , but mainly greens and reds. Could my cable DVR be at fault or is it something in the TV.

Hello,

The problem is from the lamp of the television, Have it replaced and it will be in good condition once again. And if replacing the lamp does not help, then it means there is a cold joint on the main panel of the television, where some lead has melted off on a capacitor or on a component on the panel.

Have a repairman check all the capacitors on the main board, and all the lead links.

Take care and good luck

Hi Toyladi3! Thank you for responding. Where could I find a replacement lamp for my model? I searched for the word "lamp" in the service manual and the only thing that comes up is "clamp" over and over again. Any ideas where I would find this information?

How do i connect head phones to pioneer pdp 5071pu TV

This model has no headphone out put. In the rear panel there are two monitor audio outputs which could drive headphones, but I think the volume output to a possible monitor matches the tv loudspeaker output, and may not turn off the audio separately.

Pdp-42A3HD overheat

Hi, you may want to try this. I too have a plasma screen and what I have found is that the electronics plus the cooling fan or fans suck in a lot, I mean alot of dust. My solution that I do every 6 mths is to take the tv out side and I blow it through with a compressed air every orofice you can. I know everyone doesn\'t have a compressor but you may know someone who has. I think the components may be overheating due to a build up of dust. I do the same for my desk top PC and my laptop also. You will be surprised how much dust comes out make sure you are up wind or wear a mask.

Hope that helps

For the last 24 hrs, our 50 in plasma has had no picture,no sound, but yet a blue light blinks 12 times, pauses blinks 12 times, what does this mean

Pioneer has this to say about the issue:

"On the models listed below, Engineering has determined this to be part of the normal operation, if the unit will power on.
If the unit does not power on, service may be required on the set.
Please contact our Plasma support at 1-800-421-1625.""

Hi, My Pioneer PDP 506XDE made a loud cracking noise and now the top half of the screen has no picture but shows only a green film . Bottom half of display is fine

The screen has broken, probably a stress crack waiting to happen from the day the plasma panel was manufactured. It will cost less to replace the TV completely than to have a replacement 50" screen fitted. In the six years or so since your tv was manufactured the screen technology has evolved significantly, fitting a new panel may not even be possible without other major component changes.

The new tv will have a new warranty, but just fitting a new screen will typically get you a maximum 90 day warranty.
