Thats because the foam insulation gets iced up with condensate.let it defrost for at least 48 hours then dry thoroughly.syringe any drains with clorine bleach.and wipe out with bicarb to absorb any smells.then retart as if new.

Water leaking under a fridge freezer

There can be 2 reasons for this ... the first is that the machine is causing condensation and is dripping on to the floor. Automatic defrosting fridge freezers do this but usually the quantity of water evaporates before any is on the floor.

If the Fridge / Freezer has an automatic Ice maker, or has a cold water supply, then I would suggest that there is a water leak to the system. In this case, find the water supply feed and turn it off to eliminate this as the source.
If this stops the leak, then either the supply is leaking or the problem is inside the fridge / freezer and you will need either a plumber or a repair man to fix the problem.

How to fix a leak inside a refrigerator

Turn off the refrigerator. Remove the rear panel and floor cover from the freezer. You will see a lot of ice covering everything. Remove/thaw this ice.

In the back of the freezer, under the coils is a drain. When the defroster runs and melts the ice on the coils, the water is supposed to run down the drain to a pan where it is evaporated by a fan under the refrigerator. Often, this drain freezes shut. Then, the water has no place to go but though the vent into the refrigerator.

Melt the ice in this drain with a hair dryer or small quantities of hot water. You will know the drain is clear when the water level suddenly drops. Finish drying everything in the freezer and replace the panels.

Now, you will no longer have water dripping inside your refrigerator.

I am getting water in the refrigerator compartment in great quantities.I have cleaned the coils and am defrosting the freezer. I have a whirlpool er2chmxpl00 model number. Any suggestions?

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? it overflows into the ref.
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

While cleaning Maytag MBF2556HE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator coils, I noticed green gunk along with the water in the drain pan. It was suggested that I add bleach to the drain pan and to "let it evaporate...

Hello Watsky,

I have ZERO experience with bottom freezers...
BUT
I can assure you a WELL working refrigerator will
deposit water at least daily in the DRAIN PAN...

You will likely not find the pan dry & dusty..
That is typically a sign of DEFROST PROBLEMS.

If your pan is filling toward the TOP on a daily basis... That is USUALLY a SIGN you live in a really HUMID climate OR...

You have a PROFOUND air-leak causing abundant
FROST... Resulting in High (defrost) water in your
DRAIN PAN...
AIR-LEALS are most commonly caused by poor
gasket contact... or REFRIGERATOR CONTENTS
(pizza box) blocking full DOOR/DRAWER closure.

Generally:
you want to follow the manufacturer's warm "SOAPY"
cleaning approach...

GREEN can be pretty unsettling...

If the pan is REMOVABLE... DAWN like detergent
is probably on the AGGRESSIVE side but
I also like SUPER-CLEAN food storage.

Just remember... WARM... never HOT..!!

Wash it alL out quickly... ad gently put it back ...

Check your door seals...
Keep tings clean... Prosper & be healthy

I have a GE refrigerator/freezer model #sss25kfmcww. The whole evaporator coil is icing up in the freezer section and the compressor continues to run. Help

you've got a defrost problem, hence the abundance of frost on your evaporator coil. You could have a problem with your defrost heater, your defrost thermistor, your safety bi-metal thermostat, or your main control board. the only thing i can tell you how to determine which one is to test them all, but if you don't test each part correctly, you wont get a proper reading. some have to be tested at certain cold temperatures, i.e., in their current state, to get a proper reading. . If this seems to be complicated, I would have a qualified refrigerator expert diagnose your problem for you, otherwise you could end up spending more doing it yourself, than having an expert refrigerator repair service fix it for you.

I have a hotpoint hss22gft that the refrigerator side will not stay cold. freezer side is 10 degrees. any suggestions

if you have an abundance of snow/frost on the back wall of your freezer, you have a defrost problem, heater, thermistor, defrost thermistat, or the main CPU could be the problem. If you have no abundance of frost on back wall of freezer, with freezer door open, "close" the door/light switch. Does your freezer fan run? if not, you have a faulty fan/possibly your main CPU as well. if you fan does run, then the damper door, which opens to let the air from the freezer into the fridge is not opening. close the freezer door, open the fresh food door, "close" the light switch on that side, and place your hand near the vent at the top left side of fresh food side. air flow? if no, bad damper door. if yes, check for any gaps in door seal, tears rips or malformations. if none of the above help, seek technical service

Freezer working but refrigerator is not cooling

if freezer is close to zero, top to bottom, and fridge is warm(ing), then you likely have a defrost problem, you will notice an abundance of snow/frost on back wall of freezer. it could either be your heater, thermistor, defrost safety thermostat, or your defrost control/main cpu, depending on model. if either or both sides are warm at the top, and cold at bottom, then your freezer fan is out. again depending on your model, it may just be the fan, or a combination fan/main cpu board hope this helps
