Press the F8 key several times as the computer boots up then you will get the Windows Advance Option menu. You can then select Safe Mode at the top of the selection.

When the System comes back on in Safe Mode, all unnecessary utilities are shut down or do not work, such as your speakers or the sound. If you open Safe Mode with Networking, than you are connected to a Network, but you still can only do a few tasks that Safe Mode allows. After you restart your computer and run it normally, than all functions will return to their normal operations, including your speakers and sound.

Start my panasonic CF-f9 in safe mode. what key do I press??

For ALL Panasonic Toughbook Models
and for all Operating Systems
(Win XP, Vista and Win'7):

To start in safe mode, press the "F8" function key
(located ABOVE the number 7) immediately and
repeatedly as soon as you power-ON your
Panasonic Toughbook model.

You will see three choices in a text-only Windows:

Safe Mode (without networking)
Safe Mode with networking (my regular choice)
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Use the UP or Down Arrow Keys to HighLight
the selction and then press Enter to choose.

That is it!

Function key not working

Which function key? What is the key supposed to do? Do other function keys work? Maybe your keyboard has been hijacked by a virus or infection. Try booting in Safe Mode and see if the function key works.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal.
If the function key works in safe mode, repeat the steps to boot into safe mode, but this time take the Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity). Open your internet browser and download and install MalwareBytes.

Go to and in the search box type: "Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download and install malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When the site opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do not click the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the Gui Interface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version or Decline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run a QUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be in red. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad text document will open up showing you the results. You can close the text document and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTED RESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When it finishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot your machine.

My computer, H/P Windows Vista Home Premium. is in safe mode. How can I connect it to my Brother multi-function printer-scanner-fax-copier? MFc-255CW. Yesterday I put the copying disc in the computer...

I wonder why you did boot your computer into Safe Mode. Is there any problem if you boot it in Normal Mode? If you have no idea how and why it's in Safe Mode, then let me know.

The fact is that, in safe mode, most drivers and many hardwares will not load in Safe Mode. You have to manually enable from the "Services" from the Control Panel's Administrative Tools. But first let me know your problem regarding your Safe Mode so that I can assist you without wasting time.

Good luck and Awaiting your reply.

Can't connect to USB cable

Hi friend,
I think the problem may from the "safe mode",safe mode is intended for maintenance, not functionality, and provides minimal access to features. An operating system in safe mode will have reduced functionality,so may be you should switch the mode.
