The camera will not switch on when cover is moved back.
I have taken it off and the switch doesn't look complete.
How easy is it to replace ?
Any diagrams available so I know what it is supposed to look like ?

Re: OLYMPUS MJU CAMERA
Hi, I had the same problem and when I took my sliding lens cover off I released that the black level was broken. Luckily I had an old olympus which had the same part which I glued on and now it works perfectly. I would take the camera apart and take a picture for you but it was very hard to replace the case without breaking my repaired piece. This is what the small black lever should look like. (first one is from side, second is from top) It turns when the case it sided along which turns a lever inside and opens the lens. As shown in the first picture, the small black vertical part is what was broken on mine. Try moving the part with a screw driver from side to side to see if that opens the lens. I hope this helps in some way. Just ask me if you want any more help with the camera. jameswalker3 :)

Go to the manufacturers website and download the software you need for your camera for free. After downloading, install the software on the pc you want to use with the camera and then either connect to the computer with a cable or insert your memory card to view photos.
I have the same problem. The card-cover has to be physically held down for the camera to work. I have even taken pictures and because I didn't hold the card-cover down hard enough the pictures disappeared.
I have noticed on my camera that tiny portion of the plastic card-cover is missing. It is the very tip of the card-cover and would normally be angled up to snap into place and hold the card-cover closed. Apparantly this tiny piece of plastic broke off and now the whole camera has to be carefully handled. Can anyone tell me where I can get another card-cover?
The problem you are describing is a problem with the sensor that is behind the sliding lens cover door. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $83 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

check out first if the battery is fully charged.and if the battery is very old.then prefer replacing the battery instead of charging.and if the battery is new, then the cover of the lens must be getting stuck up so try tapping the device from all the sides it will automatically get opened.also off the camera completely and try to move the lens door manually up and down.sometimes the gear assembly gets stucked and this makes it free to move.
