CD/DVD PLAYER: won't recognize a new disk at all.

Hi

Is your cd/dvd rom a rw or just a reader, i would check up on the make and model of your burner and read what media it is compatible with to save you any headaches and hassles.

That way it will identify the media you need to buy to let you copy your data.

cheers

Dell dimension 3000 series won,t install drivers from install disk after fresh install of.windows xp sp2 .It is like the pc is trying to read the disk but nothing happens. This is the drivers and utilities...

Hi - You're right. What happens is Dell wants you to load the original disk and you didn't. You went to a different operating system. Now you have to go to the DELL SITE. No problem really if you just think of their website as another DISK.. Just look around - download what you need and put it on a thumb Drive - then transfer it like you would any other drive.
Go here and your on your way. It is a little HARDER at first - but you get all the latest updates which the original disk never had.

    HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H54N 18 X DVD BURNER

What do you mean by not reading the disk?

When inserting a disk to the DVD drive, it runs an autorun program if one exists on the disk. By nature autorun will not run again if the disk stays in the drive. If you want to run the content of the disk, you have to execute autorun.exe from Windows Explorer. Let me know if that doesn't answer your question
