IP6700 uses chips to estimate the ink level in each cartridge. You have to either reset the cartridge chip(s) or disable the ink monitoring if you want to refill. It's easy enough to do...

hope this helps

My canon ip6700d cannot correctly detect the ink level in one of the cartridges. How can I fix that problem?

Hold down the (red) Stop/Reset button until the message disappears from the printer display.
Then clear all jobs from the print queue (select and cancel each job). Then resubmit a print job.

Changing ink cartridges

If you have put in genuine Canon cartridges, contact Canon support for advice.
If you have refilled in any other way, your printer cannot detect ink levels. If you have used a refill kit, you might have problems if you return your printer for repair under warranty as evidence of refilling is the first thing checked for

Still just an ink error, you can't refill Canon inks without either replacing the chip or resetting the chip. If you are using genuine Canon, you just have a bad cartridge and Canon will replace for 30 days.

Refilled Ink cartridge but the printer says there is no Ink

you refilled or purchased a new cartridge? If you refilled ; did you do it after the printer told you it was out? The cartridge electricial would have to be reset. How to do that is a guarded secret for Canon. Buy a Canon One and replace Cartridge, would one on solution.

Refilled ink cartridges not recognizby printer.

I fixed the problem by using original Canon ink cartridges and not getting them refilled. Apparently their chemists put a chemical in all of their inks so that only their Canon printers will recognize. It's a guarded trade secret that no one else knows about, unless it was analized. Other ink manufacturers produce ink that looks exactly as Canon ink, but that's where the similiarities end.

The Canon ink cartridges have a chip that records the amount of ink fired from the nozzle. When they are empty, cartridge is finished. I recommend buying new cartridges. Welcome to inkjet printing.
