I'm assuming you have the Zune software installed. You'll need the software in order to interact with the Zune device, it does not work as a "mass-storage device" like some other media players.
The Zune software will find all your music. Open the software and on the top left make sure you're in the "Collection" and then "Music" category. Then click on the right hand side on the "Songs" tab. You'll see all your songs on your computer. Connect the Zune and wait a few seconds and in the bottom left hand corner of the software you'll see your device connected.
Click on one of the songs and then press "CTRL + A" and all of your songs will be selected. Click and hold and then drag one of the songs to the little icon of your Zune in the bottom left and then all of your music will sync to the device.
Hope this helps.
Put a CD of your favorite music into your computer, and then open your Zune player. Click on the music that you want to copy.
Click on the "Rip" button, and then save your music with any of the
following file extensions: .wma, .wmv, .mp3, .jpg, .mp4, .m4v, .m4a,
.m4b or .mov. The ability to play music in all of these formats is one
of the features that make Zune such a superior digital player.
Plug your Zune player into your computer using a USB cable, and then
the Zune software will automatically import all of your selected music
into the player. Set the "Sync" option to "Default" so that all the
music in your directory will install in your Zune player whenever you
plug it into your computer.
Purchase music online by either buying each song individually (usually
for about 99 cents a song) or buying a membership to a website where
you get unlimited downloads. You automatically get a membership to Zune
Marketplace when you purchase Zune, and you can get unlimited downloads
I hope the above steps will help to solve your problem.
Ok, so I just recently had this same problem. I m not gonna lie, I dropped mine and only the back light came on. but, I did a hard reset which is back key, and up key at the same time. then it wouldnt even play music. So I attached it to my laptop to let it sync with my zune. then I charged it. And put it in "deep sleep mode" which is back button and down on the directional pad. after that i turned it on, and started hitting some random keys. And now it works, except I dont know what song is playing till i hear. But it will buy me time at least. best of luck.
Set your download folder(wherever the music is) to a "watched folder" in the options of the Zune software... next time it searches for songs it will list it in your library songs. then you can right click the songs and click "send to *zune name*"
