Stereo wiring hi am trying to wire in a car stereo however the iso wiring is different colours to the cars.. so i'm having trouble distinguishing what colour the live, live continues and earth should be in this car.. please help

Test all gronds and powers then the remaining cables use a AA batterie and conect one cable on each end on the baterie like on of on of like toching at times and that will make the speakers to sound for a little then you will identify every speaker then read the diagram on the radio and plug it in acording to the radio diagram

Why we make colour code and for what purpose

wires are colour code for the purpose of being able to distinguish what wire is which at the end of the wiring loom(harness) If all the wires were the same colour then identifying where each terminal went would be impossible. IT means that if you have a main red wire with a purple stripe in the engine compartment then where ever you find that wire in the car /under dash / in the boot it is the same wire regardless of how many connections and diversions there are.

I need to replace the stereo in my 94 saab 9000CS it is Eurovox 1479 & I an having trouble matching the wiring colours from the cars plug to my ISO adapter for my Sony aftermarket unit

use a 9volt battery and grab only speaker wires only and touch them to the 9vt battery this will tell witch speaker is witch. for mor help please call 419 689 1114 for futher assistance i will be more then happy to help you

Car wiring for stereo

Go to halfords or somwher like that buy the iso connector for your make and model
if your car still has the ford plugs on the ends of the wires just plug in the connector between car and stereo If the ford plugs are missing cut the ford end off the connector match the wires to your car and solder together and plug into your stereo or any others you buy in the future with an ISO connection Did this with my 89 orion.
