ACER ASPIRE 4315 DVD drive not recognised

I am having problems with loading software using the DVD drive. It worked ok previously but now it does not appear that the laptop recognises the drive. When I place a software disk in the drive, the drive makes a noise, as if it is about to load the software, but then nothing happens.

- When we try to burn a dvd and put in the dvd-rw disc, we get a prompt saying the disc is not recognized.- vickisok

- Having same issue. DVD would not initially even open. Had to restart computer to get it to open up. Not showing up when you choose computer.- Guest

See if your DVD drive is recognized when you boot. To get in the Bios, when logo appears during booting, hit "delete" or "F2" or whatever you are prompted.

Also, see that it is reconized without any marks in the Device Manager, once you boot OS.
