are you able to connect to any webpage for example www.google.com?

  • Ekse Oct 13, 2010

Press start, Then right click on my network location and select properties.
Right click on local area network connection, and select properties.
Select TCP/IP (4 not 6, or just TCP/IP) and then click on properties.

Make sure these settings are set on automatic. then click apply and ok to close, close the window.

Hold down the windows key and press R.

Write exactly. IPCONFIG /RELEASE and then click OK (notice the space between IPCONFIG and /release)

A back window visits the screen and leaves.

Hold down the windows key again and press R.

Write exactly. IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS (same as last time, space between G and /)

    another black window flashes.

Once again Windows key and R.
Write exactly. IPCONFIG /RENEW (same thing)
This time takes a bit longer and may stay on screen for a while.

When it is gone try opening a internet page.

  • Ekse Oct 13, 2010

okay, press down the windows key and then r. on the run menu write CMD and click ok

in the black window write ipconfig and press enter.

What is the IP address of the computer? What is the default gateway address? those will appear on the screen.

  • Ekse Oct 13, 2010

Please go over the first steps again, there is a problem with the addresses.

Press start, Then right click on my network location and select properties.
Right click on local area network connection, and select properties.
Select TCP/IP (4 not 6, or just TCP/IP) and then click on properties.

Make sure these settings are set on automatic. then click apply and ok to close, close the window.

MAKE SURE THE DNS SETTINGS AND THE IP SETTINGS ON THE WINDOW ARE ALL ON AUTOMATIC.

  • Ekse Oct 13, 2010

    okay, then all seems OK.

You can go to browser and writeHTTP://192.168.1.1 and then press enter.

this will open the page of the router, modem or wireless accesspoint, you need to check that it has internet connectivity there. Now it seems the settings on the computer are ok but its not connected to the net.

  • Ekse Oct 13, 2010

Then resetting the router to factory defaults should solve the problem, unles it is configured incorrectly.

I would need to know tomorrow when you wake up The brand and model of the router. And your internet service type. Also is it BRIDGED or Routing?

Right now it appears you have NAT enabled - so it would appear to be routing connection.
