Question about Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player

1 Answer

Blue ray player will not play blue ray discs. It will play non-blue ray discs. I have installed the latest firmware, 2.8, by USB flash drive, disc and 2 different discs that were sent to me by Samsung. Still will not play blue ray discs. Is this a common problem w/ this player? The tech people at Samsung were not very helpful. Now they want me to send the unit in for servicing for over $100.00. I am fed up and would rather buy another player. Is there a solution?

Hi, look due to the high frequencies, and very short wavelengths, involved with the wavelength of the laser and receiver, it really doesn't take much at all to put it out of alignment, maybe NOT enough to effect the "Other" type of mediums, but blueray, literally only has to be a nao-meter out, and we have problems, even dust and the like on the lens will cause grave problems, that wouldn't necessarily corrupt the usual DVD CD. (DVD & CD also have different lasers apart from the blueray one, so what affects one, may not necessarily affect the other.) Also whenever there is a problem, the system simply ramps up the current to the Diode, to compensate, and this often causes damage to the Laser Diode! so it all becomes a vicious circle.
So first I guess you should attempt to clean the lens with a lens cleaner, this may work, usually not,
Samsung is a good brand, but NOT a great brand, and they are a "Cheaper" model, and with electronics, one gets exactly what one pays for...
I would replace it with a slightly more up market unit, with a FULL parts & labor warranty.
I also often advice my clients to then disassemble the old unit, and sell the, GOOD parts of on Ebay, then, you will be able to recoup some money and help some other poor unfortunate to fix their broken one...

My factory DVD player will except disc the ejects it

If I understand your rather cryptic post correctly...

This very well could be a Blue-Ray disk loaded into a
non-Blue-Ray capable DVD player. Your car player's capabilities MUST match the disc, otherwise, the disc won't play.

I've run into this very same problem with my home DVD players. Which both are non-Blue-Ray capable, but I was able to verify the Blue-Ray discs on my PC.

There are two different lasers on the drive.. Red for DVD and CD.. Blue for Blu Ray..

The Blue Laser may have failed.

Of course it always helps to check drivers and firmware updates for the drive itself. There was one firmware update 12/2010 for this player at the Panasonic USA website (support) Version 1.43

Finally Check your BD Ratings settings. There is a setting that could prevent all Blue Ray Discs from being played. It should be set to NO LIMIT which allows any rating. Page 24 of your manual.

Best of luck!

The Laser Pickup Assembly is defective, to play blue ray it needs higher precision and velocity to produce the higher resolution, it is not cost effective for repair.

Won't play new blue ray disk

Will your machine play standard movie DVD discs? if it does then the laser pickup assembly is the problem. The blue ray discs require a higher precision tracking to offer better resolution.

I have a Sony BDP300 Blue Ray DVD Player. It plays non-blue ray dvd's fine. It plays a Celine Dion Blue Ray DVD fine. Tried to play an Netflex Blue Ray Amiela Earhart DVD and get picture but no sound. ...

I suggest that you install the latest firmware update to resolve the issue. Please click the following link to download the latest firmware update.

It is recommended to use CD -R disc to create the firmware update disc. I hope you're clear with downloading the update from support page. Once you download and save the file in the folder in the computer, you can double click the file to extract. You will be prompted to save the UPDATE_BDPS300_VER0550.ISO file in a folder. Most of the customers will be making mistake here after... We need to use a burning software which is capable to burning discs from ISO images. ISO image is nothing but a RAW format of burned image. I will give you the instructions to burn using Nero.. Steps will be almost same in all ISO capable software. Open installed nero software from computer. You may locate it under Start Menu programs. Go to File Menu (Some times you will get a wizard where you can select the Image Burning option or burn ISO option) Navigate the extracted .ISO file we saved in the computer. follow the onscreen instructions. Insert the disc when ever Nero asked to insert Hope this helps. If you need any assistance. Please get back to me. I will be more than happy to assist you. Thanks for understanding.

Hi,

You need to download K Lite Codec Pack (Its Free) and you can install it via....... or you can try googling it.

http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

It contains all the different audio and video codecs. Your computer might not play it because it doesnt have a blue ray codec by default

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Will not play blue ray disc

Hi

All u need to do is to visit the manufacturer website, you will see a link "download driver upgrade". Download this upgrade and store it in a flash (if your player has a usb port) or just burn it on an empty CD.

Insert the CD or flash drive into your player, the system recognizes the upgrade and automatically installs it..and you are good to go

Chronicles of Narnia. Lion,witch,wardrobe blu-ray won't play

Updated firmware last night (for the Bd370) and the main movie disc for Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, witch, wardrobe worked (after previously stalling). However, the bonus disc still doesn't work when I play it (just a blank screen). I traded the Blue-ray DVD from where I bought it for another one, and it made no difference. However, both Narnia discs played okay in the store on a Sharp blue-ray DVD/Tv combo.
