Question about Maytag Neptune MDE4000 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

I have a Maytag Neptune dryer that does not have any heat, when drying. I think the problem is the heating element, but I can not figure how to take the machine apart. I just remodeled the laundry room, and I had to move the dryer about three times. I am thinking something has come loose. Please give me some help. Thank You Dave

Ok dave the first thing to do is check the main power terminal block for proper voltage.
then there are two clips under the front edge of the machine about and inch in from either side of the machine.Push them in with a flat tip screw driver and lift the kid.ten there will be two screws on the inside edges that hold the front panel on remove those and the front panel can come off.
once this is removed you may need to remove another panel that holds the drum in place in order to get to the thermal fuses and heating element.
check the wiring and make sure there is nothing burnt.then check the continuity on all thermal fuses and element if you find one that does not have nay continuity then replace it and this should solve yur probelm.

Dryer won't heat maytag neptune mde 5500 ayw

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Hope this helps...

Daniel

No heat coming from dryer

Double check the circuit breaker for the dryer (Electric Neptune). Turn it off, then turn it back on. Its possible that the breaker may have tripped for some reason, but wasn't able to trip all the way.

Does the interior of the dryer get warm at all? You could have a 1 of multiple heating elements that has shorted. If no heat at all, the likely a heating element has opened up. Unplug dryer from wall (turn off circuit breaker first!). Use a ohm meter to measure and check continuity of the heating elements.

There may also be a sail switch in the air path of the dryer. The purpose of the sail switch is to keep the elements turned off until there is enough air blowing through the dryer. This helps prevent fires, as well as shrunken denim.

Maytag Neptune Dryer-stopped heating

first, check the exhaust, make sure every inch of it is clean on the inside. if there is any blockage, the heat will build up in the exhaust and a sensor will shut down the heating element.

I have the same problem--it is the heating element. Bad news is they don't make the part anymore. The solution from maytag.com is to buy a new one and they will reimburse you 15%...not a very good solution considering how much this one cost and the amount of years it has been used.
If you find a place that sells the heating element please post!

Email me a response to robert_fawbush@yahoo.com and I will be more than happy to provide you with parts breakdown illustrations and possible part numbers and locations to replace. The service amount verses the do-it yourself amount will be well worth the savings. Typical labor cost on appliances are 75.00 per hour and a mark up on the parts. If you feel you can do it yourself after getting the photos e-mailed to you, it will save you approx 200.00 if not a lil less or a lil more.

Please rate this solution "fix-ya" if it seems to satisfy your question.
