Question about NRS Fleck 5600 - 64,000 Grain Timer Water Softener

1 Answer

My Fleck 5600 Economizer runs automatically thru the regen process but when it returns to "in serv" the water continues to run and the timer motor continues to run. I have to by-pass the system and shut the electrical off. I have changed the O-rings in the injector body and checked for clogs and found none. drain runs, brine tube runs brine. I bought the economizer 5600 only 3 years ago. Please help. Steve

There could be an o-ring missing, which is located in the brine piston bore, this is the little piston that resembles a spark plug.

If you need a user manual for this control valve, post a request, and I'll see what I can do to get you a copy...this will help with diagnostics.

Aquafine Sensimatic will generate manually but not automatically

I am not familiar with this brand. If it is not regenerating automatically that usually indicates it is not metering the gallons/usage (there should be flow indicator FLASHING on the control board) or the programming was reset to factory specs causing unit to not regenerate often enough and running out of capacity. If you can post a picture of the unit it will help.

On the Fleck 5600 the timer motor also serves as the drive motor. It is on the back side of the control in the upper left hand corner. Reset the time of day and see if it keeps proper time. If not the timer motor needs to be replaced. If the control is an sxt model the circuit board may be bad from a power surge.

I have a fleck 5600 and my plumber had to unplug everything do do some plumbing work. I know have to automatically put it on generate for it to run. What do I need to do to have it go on automatice it...

If it is a time clock or mechanical meter you just need to reset to the correct time of day. If it is a digital control you may have to reset the program mode settings (time of day, hardness).

Need more info ! Is this a meter control, or day wheel ?
Does the clock keep accurate time?
If you reach around the back of the timer control box, on the left hand side, can you feel heat from the timer motor?..It should feel a bit warm

Fleck 5600 won't begin regeneration cycle. What's wrong?

Check to see if it is on proper time of day, if not the timer/drive motor may be bad. If it is a metered system make sure the meter cable is plugged in to meter and in back of timer assembly. Turn the large black knob in front (if mechanical valve) if it turns very hard or does not move the main piston is frozen up and should be replaced.

Where to put the salt? and how to flush it? thank you wg844

Dump the salt in the separate brine tank. Always keep salt/brine tank at least half full. If you want to run a manual regeneration push the regen button. For delayed regeneration (2am) push once, for immediate regeneration push twice.

How do i increase softness

A water softener ether softens or it doesn't. If you are getting hardness leak through continually check to make sure that the bypass valve is closed completely. ( the handle where the pipes go into and out of the softener, make sure the pointer is pointing to service). If you are getting soft water most of the time and it goes hard just before regeneration check the incoming water hardness, if it has gone up you will need to adjust the hardness setting on the unit or if it operates on time, set it to regenerate more often.

The gears are jammimg when it gets to the brine

Most likely it's NOT the motor...If you can remove the entire timer box, or "Power Head", you will see that the main dial is easy to turn..remember..." CLOCKWISE ONLY!!!!"...the problem is more likely the main piston the is locking up in the valve bore, you can find parts for this valve online...you will need a new main piston, a brine piston (the smaller one on the right) and a set of spacers and seals.
