Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Broken screen I recently dropped my camera and now when i turn it on, the display screen is bright white and there is clearly something wrong with it. I'm pretty sure that i need the display replaced. Is this possible to do, or would i be better off just buying a whole new camera?

White LCD Screen disolay.

Sadly it sounds like the screen has been broken, often times any white on an lcd screen mean that the liquid crystals have been damaged, most likely from dropping the camera or bumping it into something. I had the same thing happen to an old camera of mine. Sorry for the bad news, but it is probably just as or more expensive to fix the screen than it is to just buy a new camera unless it is a very expensive professional camera.

Dropped 3 screen blank

you want to make sure that the brightness is turned up
you can do this by going to settings > wallpapers & brightness > then turn the slider up

if this isn't working it sounds like something is wrong with your screen like the backlighting going out

Samsung s860 camera got dropped turns on but screen is only white

dropping the camera might have caused damage to your LCD screen, best advise I could give is to send it in for repair

check if you can still view old pictures or if the on screen displays are visible, it will narrow down if the problem is with the lens or the screen

hope this helps

Displays green color image/screen

When did you get this message? It seems like you have set the White Balance of the camera wrong. Set it to Auto White Balance to eliminate this problem. Use Daylight White Balance when shooting in bright daylight so as to eliminate any color cast in the image.

Dark Screen

Try connecting to an external monitor. If the monitor displays correctly, then the problem is with either the inverter or the screen.

Display goes off when it is sunny

Are you sure it's actually turning off? One of the complaints I read when reviewing the camera before purchase was that the display could be unviewable in bright light. It would be quite unexpected for the screen to actually go dark in bright light and miraculously come back on in the shade... The camera has a viewfinder and I bought it with one for just this type of circumstance.

Why is my projection dark and muddy compared to the brightness on my computer screen?

John here, customer advocate at Dell headquarters. If you can nvigate to the On Screen Display Menu, you should see an "all images" section on the main menu. There you will find brightness, contrast, color temp, white intensity, and gamma controls. You should be able to make adjustments from that menu to sharpen and brighten the image.

I don't know if you stil have the camera in question, since this is a fairly old post.

I've just tried to make this happen with my MPVR and even turning LCD brightness and Exposure all the way up doesn't result in this unless I'm pointing the camera out a window at bright daylight. If you aren't able to access your menus I'd say something's gone wrong with your camera.

You could try posting at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/view_forum.php?id=92
to see if anyone there has heard of this.
