Mirror locked up at 125th or slower and infill flash does not flash. At faster speed it works fine. The display on top of camera goes virtually blank and battery display flahes as if the battery was exhausted. If shutter release is pressed again then camera goes back to normal 'ready to shoot' mode.As flash is synced to 125th I suspect that the flash is part of the the problem (or maybe it is just coincidence) I have tried cleaning, used different lenses and put in a brand new battery. Any clues?
This is NOT a digital but a film camera Canon EOS 100/Elan bought about 10 years ago and working up until a few months ago.

I am in doubdt whether to buy or not the following: A Canon EOS Rebel K2 SLR with Canon 28-90 EF for $75.00 and a Canon 75-300 EF f/4-5.6 for $80.00; a total of $155.00 Some people warned me tha I should wait until I can get more money and buy a Digtal SLR. I had some basic knowledge about photography and I am planning to take some photography course by mail, dvd or by e-mail. Please give your advice about the Canon camera and lenses and the photography course I should take. Thank you very much.
