Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Unfortunately this is actually very common.
The good news though...It is a fairly minor procedure to replace it/them.

First, slide the entire unit out from the cabinet a couple or three inches and you`ll see the plastic roller assembly and rope ( except yours is likely broke...at least one by the sounds of your description ) attached to the side.

**You`ll need to insure your connections will allow you to pull the unit out however, otherwise they - water, power, drain hose - must be disconnected to prevent any damage.**

If you have any reservation to performing this repair on your own please call in a qualified appliance technician.

The parts ( # 1059756 @ repairclinic ) come in a kit as I alluded to and will look like what I attached below...

the door has all of a sudden fell down, no sring - 0fda4f0.jpg

These are available at most brick & mortar appliance part locations or on-line vendors such as "repairclinic.com" "searspartsdirect.com" or "apwagner.com" to name a few.

They range in price for around $20, or you can just purchase the rope/link seperately for about $4 part # 1159210 @ repairclinic.

I recommend replacing the entire kit and checking the spring itself, if it looks ok and not stretched or broke it is likely ok...they are seperate from the kit ( # 830967 door spring @ repairclinic as well )

Hope that helps move you forward. Thank you for visiting "fixya" today.

Please take a moment and rate the solution provided here or a testimonial if you feel warranted.

Let me know if you require further assistance and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Parts inside my ice maker in the door fell out cant figure out how to get the front panel off the ice and water maker

Remove the top freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the plug there . This removes all power to the door so the refrig can still run while working on the dispensor . Use a butter knife slipped down between the lower portion of the dispensor cover and the main dispensor from the inside and press down . There are 2 plastic tabs holding the lower cover in place . After the lower portion is unclipped , lift upwards to remove the top portion . Disconnect the plug to the dispensor front . There are 3 or 4 screws holding the white " body " in place , so remove them and it should slide out a little ways to allow access to the inner workings .

Strange thing over night my refrigerator has lost the suction in the doors. I have to close the door and hold the door close, to keep it close

there is a plastic part that attaches to the lower hinge that helps keep the door closed. it is like a rocker that when the door is open the door rides up on the plastic rocker then as you close the door the door rides down on the hinge rocker and helps to force it closed. mine stopped closing on it's own then all of a sudden the black plastic piece broke and fell to the floor. I am ordering a new piece if I can find the part number.

Drivers electric window suddenly fell down inside of door

thw window either came off the window slider or the slider bracket, this can be determined by removing the door panel. this could also be cable driven and the cable has disconnected or broke, can also be determined by removing door panel.

Electric windows bounce back down when the y reach the top

if it just fell, it came out of its track.

if it went down slowly it must have a intrapment feature, that makes the window reverse when something it in the way.
if this is it ,the window will need to be adjusted

Printing (text suddenly blurry bold after closing lid).

open the toner access door remove the toner, slowly lower the tone access door and ensure that the top roller (charge roller) is lowering straight. the roller in the bottom of the cavity (the transfer roller) push down on this to ensure that it has spring tension. if the top one is level and the bottom one has tension then you'll need to change the high voltage power supply.

Driver side door window slowly fell down into the door of my 1997 dodge dakota. The glass did not break.

Power or crank? Either case the rails that hold the window on probably broke. there are slides inside the door that keep the window in place, if a slide broke, or if one of the brackets broke, the window will come down. I cant really recomend doing this yourself as ive had the same issue on other vehicles and pulling apart the door and messing with the slides and stuff in there is a real pain. Hopefully it only fell off the track and you can put it back in place. If not, if your not very handly i would suggest taking to someone.

Door won't open slowly

Hi barrianne,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

You're asking: On my Kenmore elite, on opening, suddenly the door just slams to the bottom without the gradual opening that it had before. And you have to really close it -- previously it would stay ajar 2 or 3 inches but now it will open all the way. Whatever was holding the door up and not in the down position is now kerplooie. Any suggestions?

You're not alone! This is very common. It is usually easy to repair if you have the technical skill and tools to remove the d/w to allow access to the springs on each side and properly reinstall. I don't recomend it to the average homeowner. You might consider utilizing our Repair Directory to find a repairman.
