2 Answers

Hello, I have a Canon IP3000 printer. Every time we try to print we get an 6A00 error. We've tried turning the printer off and on, we've unplugged it. Do you have any ideas what we can try? Paul & Jo

I've checked it out and I didn't find anything 'stucked' in the printer.

Error 6A00 has no specific cause and no specific solution/fix. Sometimes, it's caused by Paper Jam, sometimes Waste Ink Tank Full, sometimes Carriage Problem and still many more.

Simplest Trick: Open the front cover, pull the cartridges with the carriage and leave them somewhere on the passage, now close the cover and turn off the printer, again turn it on. If it's not a fatal error, there'd be no more problem and no more error displays on the screen.

First try this, open the hood (front cover), after the cartridges moved towards the other end/side, look at the other side (the side where the cartridges were sitting before it moved to the other side). You'll see the Waste Ink Tank Pads (sponge), remove them and clean them (they should have been soaked with ink, so use a hand-glove). Remove the pads and squeaze or wash and dry them, after they are cleaned and dried, reinstall (re-seat) them. Now power on the printer and check again.

Secondly, (remove the cartridges before you begin) open the doors and look for paper jam or anything inside the passage and through the paper passage. Use a blower to blow all the dust and clear them out. Now turn off the printer and leave it for few minutes while you clean the cartridges, again switch on the printer, install the cartridges. Now see if it's still there or not.

Try turning the printer up-side down, shake it (do this while the machine is off) and again reboot it. Once again check the status.

Push in a photo paper (or similar thicker paper) into the sheet feeder, do this several times and again reboot the printer.

If the problem even after all these are done, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi. This is a common issue for canon printers. Error means print head carriage is stucked. Try the carriage a few times and blow some compressed air inside there might be foreign object stucked in the carriage.

all the best!

Error 6A00 when attemnpting to print from Canon IP3000 printer.

Hi,

According to the service manual of the printer, the Error 6A00 is one of the Service Call Errors (by LED blinking in orange and green alternately 12 times.) The name of error is “AP position error [6A00]”. The sheet unit (QM2-1220) or Logic board ***’y (QM2-1520) may be faulty. And the replacement of the part is needed which is likely to be faulty.
It means that you have to waste money.
But you can try the solutions below:
Solution 1:
It looks like the print heads need to dip down into the small sponges underneath the white plate at the end of the start motions. Just move the print head carriage (white plate) back and forwards a few times.

Solution 2:
Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. This may be related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.
Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
Solution 4:
After trying the solutions above to reset the error:
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

I hope it helps.

Service error 6A00

It looks like the print carriage was stuck. Turn on off the printer, manually move the ink cartridge back and forth a few times, look underneath for dirt or small piece of paper (usually happens when you have jammed paper) or use a blower to clean any foreign objects.

Printer won't print and gives me a code of 6A00. Printer is a Canon Pixma iP3000. Tried turning it off and on however this hasn't fixed problem. :(

Try manually moving the print carriage a few times. The problem is normally a stuck piece of paper or object. If you have any compressed air, try using that to blow out any dust or paper particles.

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
