Can you try an external mouse and keyboard? Are you able to enter the BIOS? Does the Caps lock key turn on if you press it during bootup?

My keyboard and mouse dont work. it worked before i restarted it now it does not at all

probably the human interface was disabled by something ..try to go to bios settings by pressing F2 on start and in there choose the key for optimal factory defaults..and engage them confirm with Y for yes..and after that press F10 to save the changes..and restart ..
This should activate them ..In case this is not working ..try the pad to see if it works and if it does..use it to download and install the keyboard and mouse driver from the manufacturer's site ..
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19
Or in worse case ...if you know that no physical shock damaged it ...you can reinstall the operation system ..or engage the system restore ..cause it seams that some updates or something you have done by mistake ..have disabled the devices..
In normal situation they should reactivate themselves after restart ..and after defaulting the BIOS ..but ..if the driver is damaged ..windows may choose not to activate and operate them ..even if the keyboard works well until boot to windows.. ..
Good luck !

How to troubleshoot keyboard issues?

Wireless Keyboard:
If only some of the keys don't work skip to the section Some Keys Don't Work below.
  1. Resynchronize the keyboard. Press the connect button on the keyboard for 5 seconds. Then press the connect button on the receiver for 5 seconds
  2. Change the batteries.
  3. Try reseating the receiver if possible.
  4. Try positioning the keyboard closer to the receiver.
  5. Skip to the section Generic Troubleshooting below.
Some Keys Don't Work:
  1. Check if any of the num lock key, shift lock key, etc are causing the issue. This is especially prevalent on laptops which don't have a distinct numeric keypad.
  2. If it's only the multimedia or hotkeys that don't work then try installing the specialized multimedia keyboard software that came with the system/keyboard.
  3. Try reseating the keyboard and rebooting.
  4. Go into Accessibility Options in Control Panel and check that Sticky Keys, Filter Keys and Toggle Keys are all switched off.
  5. Check if the problem occurs in the BIOS. A good screen to test with is the create BIOS password screen if the keys don't work here then a new keyboard is in order.
  6. Continue on to Generic Troubleshooting.
No Keys Work:
  1. Try reseating the keyboard and rebooting.
  2. Try power draining the system. This can be particularly effecitive with a laptop.
  3. If this is USB try a different port.
  4. Try entering BIOS - if you cannot get into BIOS then the keyboard probably needs to be replaced.
  5. Go on to Generic Troubleshooting below.
Generic Troubleshooting:
  1. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard driver and reboot
  2. Try system restore back to before the problem occurred
  3. Check for malware or 3rd party software that may be interfering with the function of the keyboard.

THE TOUCHPAD MOUSE JUST QUITE WORKING DOES IT NEED REPLACE AND IS IT SEPARATE FRON THE KEYBOARD

It is hard to tell if the touch-pad needs replacing from the information you gave. However, I can tell you that the touch-pad is NOT part of the keyboard.

There are several things the can cause the touch-pad not to work. 1) It may have been turned off in the BIOS. 2) It may have been turned off by the operating system software or 3) You may have installed a usb mouse which in some cases will override the touch-pad. 4) The touch-pad may have a bad connection into the motherboard or into the touch-pad circuits.

I wouldn't go replacing the pad until I had tried all the other possible areas because this requires a complete screw removal from the bottom, removing the display and keyboard. Then removal of the upper case of the laptop. I do this as a last resort.

Can not get the mouse to work the touch pad is not working

Hi, first test with an external mouse, and then check your device manager, you can get there from control panel, system, hardware tab, device manager button. If there doesn't look like there is any anomalies you are going to want to check the bios peripheral device section to see if there is any options for mouse, probably will not be, bios is either F2 F1 or Delete. After that reseating the touchpad would be a good idea, sometimes it just gets loose, unfortunately you will probably need to call up a tech, as it will need to be taken apart. If all fails then it will just need to be replaced, the touch pad comes as a single part you buy with the top plastics that go around the keyboard. Suggest using model of laptop and brand when you search and to use www.froogle.com if you can, it will be cheaper.

Lenovo n500 laptop ... mouse pad not working

The mouse pad maybe faulty or the ribbon cable from the mouse pad to the motherboard may not be properly connected. Reseat this cable.
You can connect an USB optical mouse to the laptop. I prefer you use a USB mouse all the time over the mouse pad.

Keyboard and mouse not working

it is likely the keyboard or mouse is putting out erroneous data and windows is then ignoring the ports,
try disconnecting the mouse pad or the keyboard and run with only one connected at a time if re-seating them has no effect.

there is sometimes a combo of software that may also effect the keyboard mouse input.
click on run / type msconfig
uncheck load startup group items.
click ok,
restart , check don't show this again.
and test system.

Keyboard and mouse not working

After Pressing the Power On button... Hold the F12 key or on some models it is the Delete Key.. to get you to Bios Setup Utility..
Look there in Advanced Settings or Similar to See if your Keyboard And Mouse show up..
Option 2: The Ribbon cables that connect your Mouse and Keyboard are Located Underneath the Keyboard.. Remove the Keyboard and check to see that the ribbon cables are Secure in the ports..
Changing the CMOS battery is probably not going to fix your problem.. IF your CMOS battery was bad, you would be experiencing The System Time Changing .. your Clock would Show a Different Time Year and Date...... Pulling the CMOS battery for 30 seconds or so then resetting it might Reset it, This resets the BIOS and Resets Any Connected Hardware.... On Some Laptops Doing this Is not enough, You will also need to short the J1 Jumper pin...
and Some other Laptops have an affixed CMOS battery that cannot be removed unless Unplugged OR unsoldered From the Mainboard...

Hope this info helps..

Keyboard keep taking ma cursor back i ve have made fresh installations but it still wont work i even installed new bios tried new mouse and keybaord but it still wont work.i think acer really is bad

if the cursor is moving by itself off the screen then it is likely that the mouse pad is bad or needs reseated ,
remove the keyboard and re-seat or disconnect the mouse pad.

HP Pavilion zv6000 Notebook PC keyboard replaced

Probably the keyboard you got is defective. I have seen buttons working in very bad conditions. When a key doesnt work or several is bad news.

Try to get a replacement. Since you have already reseated this simply check if the flex cable is properly locked, (ear plugs or similar) and not moving.
