Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

My reply I did not think you were trying to second guess the issue. I wanted another opinion. Do you know if this sounds right and is it a very common problem? Thanks

I understand. This can be a common problem, especially if you have hard water or well water. Basically any water source that calcifies or has sediment. If this is the case, many home owners will install a whole house water filter on the washer line to prevent this from reoccurring. If this is not the case with your water, I would assume this was just one of those failures that could be attributed to normal wear and tear. Good luck to you and keep me in mind if you need further assistance.

Pride 5.5 washing machine. Our washing machine stopped (during one of the wash cycles I think) and started to give a single beep every second and all the wash lights were illuminated.

Hi just read your posting. Can you advance the machine to a spin cycle?Or are all the controls frozen?Try advancing the machine to a spin cycle and push start then reply back and let me know what the machine does.Looking forward to your reply.Sounds like a lid switch fault.

My whirlpool washer will not start. It is in control lock mode for the last load of clothes that I wash

This is a very common issue. On the far right of the control panel their is a button "End Of Cycle" press it for 3 seconds to unlock the control.

If that does not fix it the user interface control board would need to be replaced. I can explain how to do this but think holding the button down will fix your washer issue.

I'm an owner of three FAV6800A machines and I'll respond to help because you want to roll up your sleeves and try to save your $1K machine.

1st No direct links Google this Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW

In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with.

Post in that forum your machine Model which I assume is an FAV6800A (LED Console) or FAV9800A (LCD Console)

Include the first two digits of you machines model number. That is the series of your machine.

Give a description of the issue as you did here. I hope the grinding is during wash/agitate if so it may be something as simple as tumbler removal to clear out debris. If the grinding is in Spin Cycle it could be a bit more work like Outer Tub bearing failure.

The Forum in my opinion is geared more toward the DIY owner as I am and as you sound. The forum is free like this and my support is free..........Good Luck D*ick

Sounds like he is guessing. It may be a parts problem on this machine since some have been discontinued. Get a person to look at it and find out what is broke and try to fix it.

My washer will not spin is it the motor?

The most common thing on that washer to cause it not to spin would be your door lock assy. The second most common issue would probably be your control board. If it is not draining then it also will not spin so make sure the pump is working. If i had to guess I would assume you have a bad door lock but without diagnostics and a multimeter its impossible to know for sure. Hope this helps. _MJ_

Hello rletner, It?s not the repair persons fault he is just not familiar with the machine and how to troubleshoot the issue. I?m an owner and familiar with the FAV6800A/FAV9800A failure issues. You have a clutch malfunction of the roller clutches in the clutch pulley assembly. The rollers clutches are dry/sticky. You may be able to clean up the One-Way roller clutches in the clutch pulley as I describe in this POST. Give it a read and see if you or someone you know has the basic mechanical skill sets to perform. It?s not to bad just a tight work area. This is a very common problem with FAV6800A and FAV9800A machines. DIY it and save big$. I think you are looking at $300 plus my best guess for a Clutch replacement. I would guess that your TDS replacement was around $125-$150 range. I?m at work and have to cut this reply off for now. Read the POST I link to and see what you think. It sounds like the tub swings caused by the clutch malfunction were very extreme. Was this before or after the repair tech replaced the TDS? You should pull the the front cover off and inspect for the leak source. Hope the violent tub swings did not damage the drain pump housing... maybe a drain hose leak. Lets take it one step at a time. Down load the Service Manual form this link; The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference. Let me know if I can help, I will offer phone support if needed no $. Click on my handel and read some of my solutions related to dc/UC errors, failed to spin, will not drain..... all related to a clutch malfunction. My old handel is dh1200s you will fine my post. Duet washer stopped during wash cycle.

take off the panel below the door three screws and look for the tech sheet located on the right side. It will coach yoou thru the codes and common problems. Sounds like it may be the door swithch does it lock when you push the start? If not the door switch my guess would be a machine control. 877-262-1479 parts.

Bosch Classixx will not start

Just a guess, but it sounds as if the machine doesn't think the door is shut. Try pushing against it as you turn it on, if that works, then I'd guess there's a door shut switch that needs adjusting.

NOTE. This reply is from an amateur guesser who knows nothing.

Washer won't rinse, drain or spin.

My guess would be that you have a faulty timer if you can manually move it and the operation of the washer resumes.

Probably a good assessment. I wasn't trying to second guess your repairman. I just wanted to make sure you were able to have the knowledge to eliminate some of the possibilities yourself. That way, you feel a little more confident that you're getting the correct repair. It sounds like the solenoid is probably clogged or scaled up from sediment. Let me know how things turn out for you.
