Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional
You have 2 options: buy a newer version of Windows, or get Linux for free.
Windows may not run on your machine depending on how old it is. And your peripherals like a printer may not work.
You can download Linux to a flash drive or DVD and try it for free to see if you like it. Then you can install it while you're running off the flash drive. It takes about 20 minutes or so.
If you can run Windows 7, just about any Linux distribution will work fine. For a new user, I usually suggest Linux Mint, Elementary, or Zorin. If you have an older machine, try Ubuntu MATE. If it's ten years old, or has less than 500 MB of memory, try Lubuntu 32 bit. There are others that work with older PCs, but they wouldn't surf the web very fast anyhow.
There are lots of tutorials and selection guides on the internet to install and use Linux.

From where did you get your computer?
It's a serious breach-of-contract if a computer-store "pre-installed" Windows (XP or Vista or 7) on your computer, and they used a "stolen" product-key.
If a "friend" of yours installed Windows XP Professional, using a "stolen" product-key, they have not done you a favour.
Have your credit-card ready, and follow the on-screen instructions to make an online purchase (from Microsoft) of a valid product-key, in order to "get genuine" and to "pass" the "validation" check.
