Question about Ricoh Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

My Ricoh FT 6655 is giving a service error that the USED toner bottle is full. It is not. I cleaned the bottle area where the toner-exit tube goes into, and I vacuumed all toner I could get out of that spring loaded tube. Still same error. I am in a place where there are NO service people, and I cannot get a new sensor, so instructions to fix would be gratefully appreciated. Also a link to a free service manual for it might help, free because this is the only thing I would need it for. Thanks

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

You have probably been using non genuine toner, some kinds of this toner is not the same quality as Brother toner and just chews you drum out before its due to be changed. Change the drum and use genuine toner.

Is this a small table top model? They usually do not have a waste bottle. The waste toner accumulates is the drum housing Where hopefully the change drum warning will come on before the waste toner fills up and causes poor copies. I have taken the drum asm apart and vacuumed the toner out.

SOURCE: Ricoh Aficio fax 5000L (error code & Factory Settings?)

HI there below is the reason for your error message and it is to do with the laser unit and will normally need to be replaced when this message comes up.

Hexagonal mirror motor startup error 3-31

You could try resetting it by the following
· Try to clear the service call condition (for failures which are not related to the
fusing unit): switch the power off, wait 10 seconds, then switch back on.

I take it you have already tried this but if this doesn't work then the unit will need replacing

Thanks J

SOURCE: Used Toner Bottle Full - how do I empty it?

Hello Pete,
I have your bulletproof fix. Open the front door, and look at the far right bottom corner. You will see a piece of sheet metal about 3" by 6" that is locked down by a black plastic button that looks like an oversized thumb tack(if its still there). The black retainer holds the sheet metal slider in place. The sheet metal slider holds the used toner bottle in place.Remove the black plastic retainer and slide the sheet metal towards you.The sheet metal will actually have a hold on the waste toner bottle and so they both will come out together,as you will see when you pull it out. Empty the bottle into a trash bag (be careful, its not dangerous but can make one hell of mess). This machine uses an auger and tube assembly to deliver the used toner to the bottle. As the bottle reaches maximum capacity, the backpressure of trying to push more toner into a confined space causes a bind in the delivery system which trips a sensor(photo interruptor) and you get the message to empty the waste toner. So once the bottle is emptied you should be ok. Note: on rare occasions the tube and auger assembly(which became somewhat packed and therefore gave the message) will remain slightly bound even after the toner in the bottle is emptied. You might have to slide the waste toner bottle back in a couple of times to dislodge the clogged toner. In fact I have had to use a slight amount of "force" to jog the clog loose.Again this is rare. The copier should immediately recover once you put the bottle back and close the door. Another rarity can occur which will cause you to turn the copier off and back on in order for the copier to return to a ready condition. Have a fine day. ............SPINAL............

Fix an error message on the Ricoh Aficio 1224c that says 'used toner bottle full'? We have emptied the used toner bottle but the error message persists. What is the best way to fix this?

Check the waste bottle to see if there is a chip mounted on it somewhere. If not see if there is an optical sensor or clear window. If there is a chip it will need to be replaced or a new unit used. If there is a window or optical sensor you should be able to remove it, clean it out, and replace it. These are often the last part to fill with toner and create a light path block.

We have a Ricoh Aficio CL3500N and are getting an error stating: "Used toner is almost full." No manual to refer to. Thank you!!

Hi there, You can just empty the waste toner bottle. here is what you need to do. Here is also a manual for your machine http://support.ricoh.com/bb_v1oi/html/oi/re/model/cl3500/cl3500en.htm Detailed instructions on cleaning the Waste toner bottle on Page 32 of the Maintenance Guide. Instead of replacing just empty it. Just be careful as the toner is toxic so you can also vacuum the toner out of the Waste Toner Bottle.

The used toner is stored in the Transfer Belt assembly on the right door that you open to remove a jam. Remove one spring on each side and release the catch while gently lifting up on the belt and roller assembly. It swings 90 degrees up from the rest of the assembly. There are 6 screws that hold a cover on the lower assembly. remove it and dump the waste toner. *** VERY MESSY*** have a vac on hand. Not a shop vac unless you want toner clouds floating around the office. If the six screws aren't present, dump the toner out of the **** between the mylar-rubber blade and the lower assembly. once this is done, the message will clear.

How do i empty the used toner?

WAIT!!! Don't let Ricoh Steal your money...

You're going to get a little bit dirt with the trick, but there is no need to buy a empty waste toner bottel

Empty the waste toner bottle inside a plastic bag, the dust is kind of azard!!!, when the bottle is empty, clean it from the outside.
Place the bottle in the printer, (This is just for reference only), in the right side of the bottle you're going to see a plastic tag all dirty (You see it?) OK!!, remove the bottle from the printer, and then very carfully remove that plastic tag from the bottle taking care of not ripping it off, now clean the plastic tag, and put it in place again, and now your printer is ready to work!!!!!
Where's the trick?, The printer has a Photo sensor that is "looking" trugh this plastic tag, when the plastic tag is full of toner, the sensor can't get the signal, and then it says that the waste bottle is full..!!!

TONY!!

The used toner bottle is not actually a bottle at all. Not sure what you emptied, but it sounds like the actual toner bottle itself. The waste toner is contained with in the transfer belt unit. When you open the right side cover, this is the unit that is attached to the door. It is a brown belt that provides transfer of the image to the drum and separates the paper from the drum. Remove this unit by locating the release levers on either side of the transfer unit (push both of them towards the machine). After removing, you will need to actually take the belt unit off of the transfer unit. To do this, remove the two tension springs on either side, and then take a small flat bladed scredriver and release the clips that hold it down (you will see when you get started). Once you get it off, you will see the long blade that actually scrapes the toner off the belt. Dump the waste toner out this end. You will need to shake it pretty hard. A better (and cleaner) option is to vaccum it out using the crevace tool on you vac. Just make sure you completely empty it. Now....do everything in reverse.

Hope this helps,
Chad
