Question about Viking DFUD042 Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

I have a Viking dishwasher made by Asko. It is less than 6 months old. Today I had a problem with my disposal (water not draining through it and leaking under the sink) and ran the dishwasher, which cleaned/dried the dishes fine. BUT, since the water was not properly draining from the disposal, apparently the dishwasher was not draining properly either. A repairman came to fix the disposal before I knew about the dishwasher issue. Now, the dishwasher won't turn off "draining mode" - button pushing does nothing. Small puddle of water came out from underneath the unit. Will unplugging unit "reset" it? What can I do to make it quit? THANKS SO MUCH!

are you sure you have cleaned all the water outlets as when these get blocked and the water builds up the dishwash will go into a standby mode as a sefety precaution to stop your kitchen getting flooded if it was me i would take off all water outlet pipes and use boiling water and a good cleaning fluid it only takes a little blockage and then it will cut off so clean all pipes through properly and then try again is the water going into the dish washer before it cuts off or is their no water going into it either if you post back ill have a nother look for you hope this is some help i had same prob with mine but it was different brand of washer but after cleaning all pipes inlet and outlet it worked fine and is still working now use good limescale remover cause if you live in hard water area then this is probably you problem .......................................................

Probable cause is either a bad fill valve, common with these, or just some debris in the fill valve inlet screen, also common. If you are handy you can take apart the fill valve and check the screen but often one needs to replace the whole valve, about an $80 part + labor. Double check your valve under the sink and make sure it is on completely.

NEED TO CHANGE THE ELECTRIC TAP IN THE BACK OF THE DISHWASHER.
THE TAP IS WHAT THE WATER HOSE CONECTS TO AT THE BACK OF THE MACHINE.

Try clearing the air gap (which is the seemingly pointless thing that is near your kitchen faucet.)

1.Take off the shiny metal cover, and you can sometimes twist off the plastic cap, or you may need to use needle nose pliers to push in the tabs that hold it in. You may or may not see debris in the tube that is in the air-gap.

2. Now what you need to do is take a clear glass and put it over the air-gap with part of the glass hanging over the edge of the sink, you may want to put a towel around the other side of the glass to keep the water from going all over the counter, turn the dishwasher off then on again and select "rinse and hold". If there is any thing in the line it will come out.

3.If not you may need to take out the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher and on the left hand side in the sump area there is a small, (usually yellow) cap that covers the drain motor impeller that can usually be pulled towards the center/right by hand, if not with needle nose pliers. You will need to vacuum out the water with a wet/dry vacuum or towels.

If none of this works, let me know and I will go over some more uncommon draining problems.

Yes there is the Water Div valve, it diverts the water between the wash arms.

Water cuming back up through into the sink then going down

Your description is a little unclear but if water is coming up out of the disposal when the dishwasher drains then it was likely improperly installed. The dishwasher's drain hose should be connected to an air gap device that drains the water into the sink above the disposal, not connected directly to the disposal's side port unless the dishwasher has a built-in check valve to prevent the contents of the disposal from siphoning back into the dishwasher.

Clear water left n bottom of dishwasher

Check drain and pump. If the water goes to a garbage disposal then remove the hose at the disposal and see if it is clogged.

Good luck,

Our sink and garbage disposal was clogged up. We got the sink unclogged, but the dishwasher had dirty water in the bottom and won't drain.

Your dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal. It you tried to use a plunger to clear your clogged sink or run the disposal with to much junk in it you may have force debris into the dishwasher drain hose. With both the dishwasher and garbage disposal disconnect from power disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal. This is usually about a one inch black hose. Clear out any debris in the hose and inlet nipple on the garbage disposal. If debris is compacted far down the hose it will need to be disconnected from the dishwasher end and remove to clear the blockage.

Good luck!

ASKO D1776. Water in drain pan. Were does it leak from?

your connection to the sink might be your problem.. The hose from the dishwasher should be connected to a drain line or garbage disposal under the sink, If the drain line from the dishwasher goes straight down to the dishwasher thats your problem! The drain line connected under the sink should go up first then down to the dishwasher, you can fix this with a tie-tie or some tape, just raaise the drain hose and tape to one of the inlet lines to the sink, hot or cold side. Good luck

Hi Guys
My dishwasher this morning has desided to not work correctly.
Its a ASKO 1302 about 20 years old. It has been a very good machine.
Over the last couple of weeks during the washing cycle, the dishwasher has been making a loader noise than usual.
1. Today, the dishwasher timer, travels all the way through its cycle, but very little washing take place.
2. Soap power is still there, plates not clean!!!!
3. Water is hot
4. At the end of the cycle, there is no water in the dishwasher.
5. I'm thinking the problem could be the pump needs replacing.
What do you think?

Just click the handle to start the cycle and let drain.  Then just before it starts, turn it off.
