Erorr 2000-0146 in hard vostro 1050

source/original from dell community

Welcome to Dell Community.
Let me first appreciate the fact that you have tried the steps yourself to isolate the problem.
Error code: 2000-0146 (DST Log contains previous errors) refers to previous errors in the hard drive which might not really be a hardware failure. In order to confirm this, I recommend you to run a custom test on the Hard drive which takes longer time than the Pre-boot System Assessment which you have already performed on the computer but it will give the accurate result.
Once the Pre-boot System Assessment is completed, the computer will give you an option to "Run the remaining memory test", please select "No". Then the computer will launch the 32-bit Diagnostics from the utility partition (if available).
After the diagnostics is launched, in the main menu, please click on "Custom Test", then select the "Hard drive" and click on "Run Tests". If the test completes without any error then the hard drive is fine and PC Restore can be performed to restore the computer back to the factory condition (which will result in data loss).
Please refer to the following article for more information on running the Dell 32-bit Diagnostics Utility: http://dell.to/MNJv4B
If you have any further questions feel free to reply.

WINDOWS XP SYSTEM RESTORE

System Restore is a tool that takes your computer back to a previously working state. This option is available in Windows ME, Windows XP and Windows Vista. Windows takes snapshots of critical system files, program files and registry settings and stores them as "Restore Points". If ever you should have any problem with your computer, you can "restore" your computer to one of these Restore Points, when your computer was working fine.
Please remember - System restore does NOT have any effect on your personal files such as emails, documents or photographs.
HOW TO USE SYSTEM RESTORE TO RESTORE WINDOWS XP TO A PREVIOUSLY WORKING STATE
In order to perform a System Restore, you must have administrative rights in your computer. If this is your own personal computer, then chances are that you will be having administrative rights in it, however if you are on a network computer, say for example in a computer at your workplace, then you will have to request your Network Administrator to help you.
In order to restore Windows to a previously working "Restore Point" follow the steps given below:
1. Log on to Windows with administrative rights.
2. Click Start, go to All Programs, go to Accessories, go to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point and then click Next.
Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.

5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
6. Log on back to your computer. The System Restore Restoration Complete page is displayed.
7. Click OK.

If you have successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer is performing as it should be, you can stop here.
But if the restore process completed successfully and the computer is still not performing as you want, you can either restore your computer to a different restore point or just undo the current System Restore. In order to undo a System Restore, please continue reading.
HOW TO RUN SYSTEM RESTORE FROM THE COMMAND PROMPT?
Many times, you may not be able to run System Restore because your computer will not start up normally. But you can still run System Restore from the command prompt.
  • Click on Start -> Run -> and type in %systemrestore%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and click OK
OR
  1. Start up the computer in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Command Prompt
  2. At the Command Prompt type %systemrestore%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
  3. You can replace %systemrestore% with C:\Windows, if you like
  4. You might have to select the Operating System in your computer
  5. You might also have to enter your username and password
  6. You should have Administrator Rights in your computer to do this.
HOW TO UNDO A SYSTEM RESTORE:

You may have unintentionally restored Windows XP to a previous configuration that you do not want. To undo the restoration, follow these steps:
1. Log on to Windows with administrative rights.
2. Click Start, go to All Programs, go to Accessories, go to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Undo my last restoration, and then click Next.
Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
4. On the Confirm Restoration Undo page, click Next. System Restore restores the original Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
5. Logon to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Undo Complete page appears.
6. Click OK.
You can now run System Restore again from a Different Restore Point.

Why do i have to change my paswort all the time?

You might have it set to change at certain intervals
IE: at log in or after each restart .......

Disable password log in
On both PC and Mac computers, you can set up your system to automatically log in to a certain user account.
As a result, this setting will allow you to bypass the password login that is typically required.
You should only enable automatic login on your computer if it cannot be easily accessed by other people.

Open the Start menu and click on "Run."
Type "control userpasswords2" (no quote marks) into the dialog box and press the Enter key.

Uncheck the box next to "Users must enter a username and password" and click on the "Apply" button.

Enter the username of the account you want to automatically log in with and then type that account's password twice to finish setting up automatic login.

Click "OK." Password login has now been disabled.
Mac Instructions

Open System Preferences by clicking on the Dock icon.

Go to the "Accounts" control panel under the "System" heading.

Click on the "Login Options" button at the bottom of the window.

Select the account that you want to automatically log in with from the "Automatic login" drop-down menu.
Password login has now been disabled.
also
Depending on what operating system you have, there are several steps you must take in order to disable the administrator account and password on your computer.
Most often, the administrator account and password are disabled in order to minimize security risks on your computer.
This account is often the target of attack if your system is compromised, as it allows access to all of the data and programs on the computer.

In order to disable the administrator account and password, follow the steps below that are outlined for the major operating systems.

If you are using Windows XP, you must be logged on as the administrator in order to disable the account settings.
Microsoft suggests that you set up another account with administrator permissions in the event that you may need to reverse this process.
Otherwise, you won't be able to.
Right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and select manage.
Click Users under Local Users and Groups in the left pane, which will bring up all users on the computer.
Double-click Administrator and on the General tab, check Account is disabled.
This will disable the Administrator account and password for Windows XP users.
In Windows 2000, go to Start, select Programs and go to Administrative Tools.
Click on Local Security Policy.
Next, click on User Rights Assignment under the Local Policies option in the left panel.
Double-click Deny access to this computer from the network and then click Add under Local Security Policy Setting.
Click Administrator account under Users and Groups, then click Add.
Click OK to complete the disabling of the Administrator account and password.

In Windows Vista, the Administrator account is automatically disabled.
However, if you have enabled it, you will need to open a command prompt.
Go to Start Menu, click All Programs, select Accessories and right-click on Command Prompt and click run as Administrator.
Open the command box and type net user administrator/active:no. Press enter and you should receive a prompt stating the command was completed successfully.

If you are running a Mac, the Administrator account is enabled by default.
To disable the account and password, go to the Apple menu, click System Preferences.
Choose Accounts from the View menu and click the lock to authenticate with the administrator account password.
Click login options, click edit, and after clicking the lock in the Directory Utility window, click Disable Root User from the Edit menu.

Print spooler file is missing and I cannot find my original disc

Welcome to Fixya

You must have the windows operating disk to reinstall the print spooler. You may order the disk to lenovo. Here's the contact number 18774536685 then press option 3. Once you have the disk, here's the procedure on how to install the print spooler service.

  2. Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Run" button.
  3. Type "sfc /scannow" into the text box and hit "Enter" on your keyboard. The system files scanner will launch and will begin searching for missing configuration files, including the Print Spooler.
  4. Put the Windows installation CD into your disk drive when prompted. The computer will copy the Print Spooler files from the CD and restore them to the proper location in the operating system.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Oce tcs 500; system administrator passwork

I am guessing this is a Windows XP system that it is connected to. Reboot the computer and as it is booting press the F8 key. It should bring up a menu for boot options. Select Safe Mode and at the log in screen select Administrator with no password. In a lot of cases this will get you in so you can go to the control panel and remove or reset the password.
If that doesn't work you can also search on google for XP Administrator Password Reset CD.

Cheers

Launch Quickbooks pro 2005 for first time with error

This usually indicates a bad registry in windows, where the admin accounts are damaged. You can try creating a new user with admin rights. If the problem persists, you will probably need to do a system recover on the laptop, setting it back to factory specifications.
Backup any data you want to save first.
