Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
This could be related to a few different issues. If you can make out text or images on the screen even though it is dark, that would suggest the LCD inverter has failed. The inverter provides th power for the LED lights that make the screen bright. If that is the case than you would need to seek local repair. If you cannot see anything on screen then it maybe the screen its self or the graphics controller that has developed a fault. Is it possible for you to connect the laptop to an external monitor, say from a desktop PC. If so and you can see the image on that, then the screen or screen cables have failed, if not than the graphics controller has failed. Either one of these also would require a local repair shop to repair the damage, but in the case of the last two faults, it can be quite expensive to repair.
