Try connecting it to a different USB port on your computer.
Try connecting it to a USB port on a different computer.
If the problem continues, then one of the two major components inside the enclosure:
* disk-drive
* USB-to-disk-drive adapter
have failed.
Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if the disk-drive, by itself, still is accessible. If not, then you could buy a new disk-drive, and "transplant" it into the enclosure, to "resurrect" your external enclosure.

Is the disk-drive still under warranty? If so, contact Seagate, and exercise the warranty, to get a replacement.

When i try 2 view files it says the drive is not accessable : access denied can i fix it?

Hi, there could be multiple reasons for this error. How old is your hard drive? Did you unplug the device while transfering file to it. You could try to replug it on the last pc where it was working and try to do a scandisk. Thanks

How do i down load and view movies on my 1TB eGo Helium 2.0 portable hard drive?

You can't view them on it, it's just for storing the files. To store them you download the file to your pc, connect the drive to the pc and copy them to it in Computer.

Bought a used laptop from military savage. When I turn on computer says no operating system found.

This is usually indicative of either the fact there is no hard drive installed in the system, or the hard drive is blank and there is no operating system. The third possibility is that there is a problem between the motherboard and the hard drive, not allowing the interface between the two to work. Check the hard drive and its connections first. You can always remove the hard drive and using an adapter attach it to another computer so it will be recognized as an external drive and access the drive for viewing the files if there are any.

Will reinstalling Netowrk Drive (E.B.Disk) delete everything on

Wait.. If you have this hard drive it should be connected using network adapter right? you make it sound like it is connected through USB. Reinstalling the driver on your pc is not a bad idea and it will remove the hard drive files. I suggest go to another pc and search from there. Also, find out the network ip address of that hard drive. If it is plugged in to the network switch then it would be easy for you to access the files even without installing the drivers.
accessing the drives and shared folder:
start-> run and type in \\harddriveIP\sharedfolder

if you don't know the ip use the software lookatlan to search for it.

I lost my installation CD and now have a new desktop I would like to use my hard drive with to retrieve my files. Because I have not installed this device on the computer (or so I think this is why) it is...

You do not need drive software to access a hard drive if you have it installed as a secondary hard drive. You need to verify that you have the power and data cables properly connected to the new PC and have it enabled in the system setup based on the port you have it connected to. If connected properly it should appear as the next drive letter after your primary hard drive when in Windows.

The hard disk in drive D: is not accessible

I recently had this problem. Whenever I clicked on any of the drives a window appeared with warning which said drive not accessible. Access is denied. Previously I thought that it is a virus which has edited my registry and is not allowing me to enter or even view my content. So I formatted the whole system but that didn't help. Now I am sharing this with you.
  1. Open My Computer. Goto Tools>Options. Goto View Tab Pane. Uncheck the last Option in the Advanced Setting which says Use simple file sharing(Recommended). Apply the setting.
  2. Open the properties window of the drive you are unable to access.Goto Security tab pane.
  3. Goto Advanced.
  4. Now click on the Owner tab pane.
  5. It's very rare that the ownership of the drive changes. But it happens once in a while.
  6. So if you are the user say Admin then select Admin(ComputerName\Administrator).
  7. Click on the box which says Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and click over Ok.
  8. Apply the changes.
  9. Now you should be able to access the drive.
