Took me a while to find this. Remove the two lowest screw, holding on the plastic back, in the centre and it drops out. -- Andrew

Open up the panel on the back of the TV which covers the various input connections. At the bottom of the area previously covered, there are 8 screws (two rows of four screws). Remove them, and the entire stand should now slide right out of the TV. You can then replace the screws back in their holes, so you don't lose them. You do not need to disassemble the stand to do this.

I removed (then actually replaced again) the base on my Philips. There was a small panel on the reverse of he mount that slid up to remove. Once removed, the base removal screws were exposed. Be careful, the screws were tiny and could easily fall inside the TV. If that doesn't help you, try searching online for your owner's manual. There are many websites where you can download them for free - even the manufacturer's often have them.

I researched this problem on the net and found the solution. Someone on one of the posts said the base can be removed by taking out four screws - all from the back of the TV. One screw is the one closest to the power plug, the next screw is beside it, the remaining two screws are the corresponding screws on the opposite side of the base panel (still on the back of the TV). Once these screws are removed the base comes off including the mounting bolt and the rectangular shaped plastic panel. There are no electronics or any components inside the base panel, only the bolt and plastic base which are held on by the four aforementioned screws. It was very easy to remove!
