Question about Lexmark JetPrinter X1185 All-In-One InkJet

Lexmark x1185 cartridge error msg

1. keep getting error msg that cartridge is installed wrong, but i had not changed them. have since removed and re-installed the same cartridges, yet still get msg every time i try to print.
2. have tried powering off printer, that did not solve error msg.
3. power light on printer flashes when turned on.
4. print queue has job that i was able to change the status from paused to cancel...but cannot delete it.

    Same problem - printer stopped in the middle of printing a page and said cartridges were installed wrong - kept prompting me to turn off, open printer, turn on, remove cartridges, replace cartridges and try again. Doesn't solve problem.

Step 1). Try cleaning the gold contacts on the print cartridge and on the printer itself with a pen eraser and a little alcohol.

Step 2). Uninstall the printer software and reinstall it.

Step 3). If the above two steps fail try a new cartridge. If none of these solutions work there is an electronic problem with the printer and it will have to be professionally diagnosed or replaced.

were they 'refilled' cartridges ? Lexmarks are sensitive to that...they have a chip in their tanks that you have to change/reset....you can't just refill them with ink.

I keep getting a msg saying carterage error on my printer


If you DID NOT use a HP cartridge you get the error message.
If you did use a HP cartridge. Unplug the printer. Wait 2 minutes.
Plug in the printer. If same error message. Remove cartridge and reinstall. Make sure no clear tape is left on cartridge contact face.

Hello,

The entire top of your printer lifts up. (Scanner unit.)

Refer to this setup guide:

Lexmark X1100 Series Setup Guide

See steps 6 through 9.

Once the lid is lifted, there are locking tabs on each cartridge. Squeeze and lift up. You can then lift up and out on the cartridges. Reverse the procedure to install the new cartridges.

NOTE: Make sure the printer is ON during cartridge removal and replacement.

How to refill my ink cartridges on my lexmark x1185 printer/scanner.

A few tips: make sure that you do not insert air in the syringe along with the ink, because you will get poor print quality (I am telling you that because I don't know if you have the refill clip that removes the excess air). Pour the ink slowly and if it starts leaking (either from the refill hole or the print head), just remove 1 or 2ml. of ink. Wipe the electric contacts gently with some tissue and put the cartridges back in the printer and print.

Follow the steps given below:
1. Snap the cartridges in and out three times.
2. On the operator panel, press Options to indicate which cartridges were changed.
3. Press Start / Yes.
4. Press Options to indicate the type of cartridge you installed.
5. Press Start / Yes.
If the problem persists, do the following:
1. With the printer powered on, remove both cartridges.
2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer
3. With the printer disconnected, insert the cartridges and reconnect the power cable.

Changed color cartridge and getting error


I had the same problem with my X8300 printer. As the printer was less than a year old Lexmark sent me a new printer. I will keep this printer until it to goes wrong and then buy another brand. Lexmark - cheap and nasty, I am afraid.

Even after cleaning you get the same results you need to contact lexmark and get the cartridge changed as the cart comes with 6 months warranty ...good luck...
