Question about Faberware 12-55 Cup Coffee Urn
That would depend on the coffee, and how strong you like it.
as well as how large your standard cups are.
I use 1/4 cup of folgers classic blend for 4 'normal' cups of coffee. I also use an oversized camping mug - so 4 normal cups fills two of the mugs. - - - you may want to try 1 1/8 cup of coffee grounds in the filter if making a full pot.

Farberware was bought by a Chinese company and isn't the Farberware your mother used any more. This coffee pot problem is epidemic with no suppor, it is Not a spring problem 99% of the time.. There is a thermostat that controls the electric flow underneath to the heater. Apparantly this is the most likely culprit. Not sure yet where to get another one. It is easily changed with a Phillips Screwdriver. It shouldn't be more than $5 so find one and give it a try. If it is supplied by the manufacturer, it will most likely go again under 1 year. Buy a Newco OCS-8.

Oops I think I put my solution in the wrong place.
Here's what I did. I had this problem and tried 3 different coffee makers, used bottled water instead of water from the tap, used different coffee, and nothing solved it. UNTIL, I tried keeping my coffee in the freezer. Viola, problem solved. I was using Dunkin Donuts coffee and, it seems that sometimes it just foams up too much and causes the overflow. I don't know why freezing the grounds works, but it does and, to me, it did not diminish the flavor, at all.
