Question about Casio G-Shock GW500A-1V Wrist Watch

1 Answer

I have not used my GW-500A watch in quite a long while. It is solar powered and has not been charged for many months. I charged it over night via a lamp and it starting working again. However, the time is off by about 2 hours and 15 minutes. In that I thought this watch was supposed to be automatically set to atomic time, I don't even know any way to change the time other than to switch to the appropriate time zones. Does the watch need to be reset somehow? If so, what can I do to fix this? Thanks.

The casio GW-500a watch is a wonderful watch which is strong and durable. Although as you said it is supposed to to be set automatically to atomic time but maybe based on your present location or your not using it for a while has made the timing of.
The watch can be set either by synchronizing to the atomic time or can be set manually. Explaining the process is a bit cumbersome so i am putting a link to the manual for the watch you can simply download and keep and if need be print a copy.
http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_manual/wat/en/qw2688.pdf

Manual time setting instructions can be found on the 4th page. While the first 3 pages explains how to adjust automatically and maintain.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

I would like to have whole complete instruction for my CASIO G-Shock GW-500A. Especially I want to know how to get back that little radar image at the top right... Thank you.

Go to the casio web site "casio.com".

Select "support" and the "manuals",
watches;

Accept terms

Select "watch manual archive"

Read the number of the back of your watch and enter it into the search box

(The little "radar" image is an indication of the strength of the timing signal when the the signal was last transmitted. No image means the it did not receive a signal last night; a partial image means that a weak was received.)

How much is a new battery for a GW-500A? It is solar powered is it common for the battery to need replacement?

The rechargeable batteries last one to three years and must be replaced, cost depends on make and model, so I can't give you a price, but should be easy to find out from the jewelers.

My Casio Gw-300 G- Shock watch face intermittently goes blank altogether. Immediately prior, the solar battery shows a full charge, (in addition, the back-light battery is less than a year old). When the...

From your description the solar cell charges the battery and keeps it topped up. I think the rechargeable battery is the problem because when the screen goes blank the battery level drops to low and the LCD blanks out which would explain the intermittent operation of the watch. I think it is worth getting it checked out with an estimate.

I have a gw-500a and the battery got replaced with a brand new one, but my watch still says charge and it won't let me change the mode or anything. The time is on the screen though. Please help

You have to reset this watch after battery replacement. Using tweezers or something similar you have to touch the AC & - contact on back of watch, for 2 seconds. Hope this helps.

I have a Casio Shock Risist watch (GW-500A) that says "charge" on the display, that is all it shows. Does it need a new battery or what?

this watch requires no battery. It uses solar cells. my watch did this as well. to make the watch functional again my advice is to not wear the watch for one day and place it near a window that gets a lot of sun.
