SOURCE: cyclic redundancy check

Cannot do it. It is a function built into the drive by the manufacturer. Besides, the CRC is a safety feature that helps ensure the data you THOUGHT you save is ACTUALLY the data you saved.

SOURCE: i am getting the data error (cyclic redundancy

A cyclic redundancy check, known as a CRC error, often occurs when you're attempting to transfer data to a hard drive. It's most commonly caused by an interruption in the recording process, but also can be a sign that you've got problems with your hard drive or optical drive.

Here are some steps fixed the issue:

  • Rule out problems with your computer Start by defragmenting your disk. Click the "Windows or Start" button in the lower-left corner of your computer screen and select "Control Panel." Click the "System and Security" icon. Choose "Administrative Tools," then "Defragment your hard drive." This will clear up clutter on your hard drive that could be causing the error

  • Use the CHKDSK program in Windows to see if there are other problems with your hard drive. Click the Windows or Start button and select My Computer or Computer. Right-click the drive with the CRC error. Choose Properties, then select the "Tools" tab. Click Check Now. Make sure the program will fix disk errors by checking the top square in the dialog box. Click Start.

Is there a hard drive cable adaptor available from an old sp1203n samsung to a barracuda 7200.9

this type hard disk needs ATA-66; 40 core cable for data transmission, and four core supply cable [+5V - 0V - 0V - 12V] supply cable. The data cable only has to be bought, because, supply pin will be with the power supply unit. You can buy this cable from most of the electronic spare part shops, or computer spare part shops at your town. The picture of the cable is given here.

    Hard disk ST9120822AS ATA Device

If the computer cannot Bootup with an error message that hard drive nor detected or no boot device then you could have a faulty hard disk.
Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard disk. If it is not detected then it is probably faulty.
Next reset the ATA data cable on the hard drive and at the motherboard. Bootup the computer again, also check the BIOS configuration again to see if it detects the hard drive.
If it still does not find the hard drive then remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer does not detect it as an external hard drive then this proves the hard drive is faulty.
To get your computer working again, replace the hard drive and install Windows together with the device drivers and your programs.

On XP, it was Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management.

Upgrade the 120gb to a Dynamic disk and then extend the partition, or if there's no data on it yet, delete the 32gb and create a 120gb one.

Should not be that different under Win7. Hasn't changed much since NT4.0
