Open the door and look inside the top of machine.
might be a rubber plug there. if plug is not water tight
or missing water will go thru and hit countertop. wet wooden countertop
equals sawdust like material thru to dishes

Don't be afraid now, but , what I'n going to tell you works VERY often. Pour two cups of bleach into the washer and let it run a potscrubber cycle. They do this all the time at restaraunts, yes really! Let me know how this turns out. P.S. leave the machine empty when you run it. Thanks, Dana

The dirt that comes off the dishes does not wash away

Is the filter screen over the drain at the bottom of the dishwasher clogged? Maybe the drain hose is kinked or clogged. If not, check the fitting where the hose connects to see if it maybe clogged. Please rate this advice. Thanks!

Top rack washer arm isn't spinning and therefore not cleaning dishes in top rack, bottom works fine

You can replace the whole top assembly. And before you run the cycles again, try putting a cup of Tang (dry) orange juice through the cycle without any dishes or get some Dishwasher Magic and you'll have a sparkling new dishwasher once again! hope this helps you!

TOP RACK DOESN'T RINSE

I would suggest you buy some CLR and run it through a full heavy cycle with the washer empty. Be sure to put it in all dispenser areas and sprinkle about 1/4 cup into the washer before starting.

Top shelf items dirtier after cleaning

After some experience with our own fdw60 with the same problem, we now put all pots and pans on the top rack. Putting them on the bottm appears to stop the clean water rinse reaching the top rack. All washes since have been ok.

Glasses always have sediment on them, not all dishes get cleaned

Remove the lower spray arm by rotating counter clockwise while lifting it up. It will come right out. Look at the bottom and you will see two holes (jets) that are plugged with food chunks, broken glass, etc... their job in life is to keep the fine filter clean. Also make sure your hot water is actually hot... like 130 degree hot. Then run 2 cups of Tang Orange drink through it on the Pots and Pans cycle, added heat on, to remove mineral deposits. (Tang is VERY high in citric acid and will clean it out safely)
