SOURCE: My Dryer will only work if I hold start button, when I release start button the dryer stops.

Anra, this is a classic symptom of a failed even heat board. I've seen a lot of these failures out there. Easy to change out. Check out this link. Catriver..post back http://www.repairclinic.com/0080.asp

An E1 Code is a thermistor fault TEST #3a Thermistor Test
The machine control electronics monitors the
exhaust temperature using the thermistor, and
cycles the heater relay on and off to maintain
the desired temperature.
Begin with an empty dryer and a clean lint
screen.
1. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.
2. Set the following configuration:
➔ Door – must be firmly closed
➔ Press Control On
➔ Press End Of Cycle Signal (Louder)
➔ Press Start
3. If after 60 seconds, E1 or E2 flashes in the
display and the dryer shuts off, the thermistor
or wire harness is either shorted or open.
➔ Unplug dryer or disconnect power
➔ Check wire connections at the machine
control electronics and thermistor.
To access the Thermistor you will need to open the bottom front panel 2 screws the thermistor is on the exh duct (Center) check it there let me know if you need futher help

Whrilpool duet dryer will not start

More than likely the thermal fuse has blown out on the machine. To access this part on the duet, I believe the fuse is located in the front behind the kickplate which can be taken off by removing the screws on the bottom side of it. Once that is done the thermal fuse is located next to the thermistor on the exhaust of the machine just below the lint trap. On some models the fuse may be located in the back. If you get your model number and go to www.partselect.com you can get an illistrated blow out and locate the exact are the fuse is located.

Dryer wont start - no lights

Dryer door does not think it is closed. There is a sensor on the top of the door that is probably not making contact with the door. Trying pushing the top part of the door and holding it then press the start button.. if the unit starts running then you know what it is. I just had one of these dryers delivered today and had to find out about this by myself tonight!!
