Question about ASUS CROSSHAIR Motherboard

1 Answer

Hi, Hope you can help. I've just fitted a new motherboard to my computer (ASUS crosshair 2 formula). My memory is 2 x 2GB DDR2 running at 800Mhz. Th machine will run fine using either of the sticks, but if I have both installed the machine blue screens after a couple of mins. I have tested both sticks and there are no issues. I have tried to update my BIOS using the EZ Flash utility but my pen drive can't be seen. ANy help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi. Asus has a great utility that lets you update your bios even in Windows.

http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=EIDxaW1Ln3YR9RA2

At the download section select your OS and in Utility section find "ASUS Update V7.14.01 Install Program" This program will automatically update your bios.

As for your Ram issue. Did you try each stick in each ram slots ? If you did and saw no issues, then I am only suspescting of incompability between your Rams.

Is 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz compatible with ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 if not what is the fastest and correct Ram I can fit;

From ASUS Site:

2 x DIMM, max. 4GB, DDR2 667/533 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory
Dual channel memory architecture
**When installing total memory of 4GB capacity or more, WindowsR 32-bit operation system may only recognize less than 3GB. Hence, a total installed memory of less than 3GB is recommended.

Does ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 Motherboard supports DDR2 800mhz ram.?i'am havin 1gb ddr2 667mhz ram and i want to add 2gb 800mhz ram to it

Hello Tarun - No it doesn't. It would run OK but you would not gain any performance as the ram will only run at the same 667 MHz.

The limitation of RAM speed is dictated by the specs of the Intel 945 Chipset the motherboard is based on. But certainly add more ram, especially if your running Windows Vista or Windows 7 which both need at least two GB of RAM to perform well.

Happy upgrading and thanks for using Fix Ya.

Can asus p5gz-mx support 2gb kingston 800mhz ram

Click here to view the Specifications of your computer mainboard.

Unfortunately only 2 x DIMM, max. 2GB, DDR2 533/400 MHz memory modules are supported.
Meaning that it is not possible for the 2gb kingston 800mhz RAM to run, according to the Specs.

Sorry to inform you of this fact!

I need changes my memory 2 pcs @ 1GB DDR1 PC3200 with 2 pcs @ 2GB DDR2 PC6400 in Asus P5VDC-MX Motherboard. please advice. Thank you

Number of Memory Slots: 2×184pin + 2×240pin
Memory Standard: DDR 400/DDR2 533
Maximum Memory Supported:2GB

PC6400(DDR2 800) is not supported by your motherboard. Also max memory is 2GB. PC4200 is the fastest memory you can install. There might be a BIOS update available from ASUS website to increase the speed but you would have to check the site.

ASUS P5QL PRO memory problem

This problem occurs because of confliction between RAM memory frequency.
For that you must have 2 RAM with same memory frequency and same company chip .
Then it works fine with 2 RAM.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks.
