Question about Edirol UA-4FX External Sound System
Hi, i have the conexant high definition audio venice 5045 installed on my presario c700. When the headphones are inserted, I hear the sound through the laptop's speakers as well as the headphones. also the inbuilt mic is not working.
can you pls help resolve this?
Yippe...i had the same set of problems and i think i got a solution to the problem...
i have a compaq presario F700 series laptop with Win XP(don't like Vista)...
all you gotta do is this...first setup a restore point.....then
go to the device manager in control panel...and disable the conexant hd audio device - venice 5045....
then update the device with another conexant hd audio smart audio 221. Do this from Control panel- system- harware - device manager- right click on the sound and game control devices on the disabled device and say install - have disk -select the location - , windows will give you warnings about how uncompatable this driver is.....ignore them.....apply,,,ok,.,,,,mic will start working and also sound will come only through headphones when connected and thru laptop speakers when its not....
Cheers - Shashank Karulkar- Pune....India

Go to the sound section in the start / control settings and disable everything but your headphones off. then find the mic and enable it.

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

SOURCE: low sound in headphone
I would say it is because the unit does not have a built in amplifier. The speakers are powered PC speakers of studio monitors I am guessing. Try plugging the headphones into the headphone jack of the speakers if they have a headphone jack or try a set of powered headphones out of the Edirol and see if it helps.
That should remedy the problem.
