Question about Samsung LE40B650T2 40 in. Full HD Crystal LCD TV
This is a common problem with these and many sets. With the back off, first remove the plastic bezel covering the outside aluminum frame. Remove the screws holding the aluminum frame surrounding the outside of the TV. (I'm referencing my TV here as an example) Gently pull the frame about 2" away from the face of the set. Behind this you will see a small control board with more ribbon connectors going into the face of the screen. Place a small piece of flexible foam or other non-conductive material horizontally behind the frame across the left most ribbon cable. It only needs to be about 1/4" thick. Push the frame back and hold in place while you turn the set on to test. You may have to adjust the position to get it right. This is what I did to fix my 46" Samsung LN46A650A1F. See corresponding tip with pictures for foam placement. If done correctly this should fix your TV. There is no 100% guarantee here as this a manufacturer ribbon cable defect. I only know it fixed my set and it is still working.

I have a 46" Sanyo LCD TV with a similar problem. The top 4th has intermittent vertical lines and then occassionally the whole left side goes dark. There are 4 distinct sections like yours. The top section usually messes up most of the time with the other 3 just happening occasioally. I found the by tapping on the left side of the frame or squeezing the left side of the frame that it will normally start working for a while. I have been doing all kinds of research and can only find people with the same problem but not solutions. Since there is so many people with this problem I am seriously considering spending the money to slowly replace parts until I can find the cause. If tapping on the frame or squeezing on the frame or lightly pushing on the screen seems to work please let me know so when I get deeper into my TV it will help me know more what to do. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm afraid it is going to be the screen. JR
