The power outage could have caused a surge of power that fried your Power On switch, or Power Supply, or gone further to the Motherboard, Processor, and Graphics Card. (IF used. If it isn't Integrated Graphics) Rather than give you a generic solution, I would like to customize it to YOU, to YOUR computer. What is the computer manufacturer name, and Model Number of the computer? On a desktop computer the Model Number should be on the back of the tower, close to the Windows Product Key, or up on the side of the tower case. I'll guide you in testing the Power On switch, and the Power Supply, to see if the problem is the P.O.S, or the P.Supply. (The Power On switch is located inside the plastic Power On button) Post in a Comment.

Try disconnecting your PC from electricity and wait for- 5-10 minutes, plug it in electiricty again and try turning it on. If it won't, then most likely either your motherboard or your power supply is broken.

Depending on how long the power was off, your desktop power supply circuit capacitors may have fully discharged during the power outage. This will effect how fast your computer will turn on when you press the power button. Turning off the power by pulling the cord, or a power outage while the computer was on will usually result in a message that Windows was not shut down down properly when you try to restart it. Also make sure your computer isn't plugged into a 'switched' receptacle that's wired to turn on a table lamp etc from a wall switch. It's usually the bottom half of the receptacle that's switched while the top plug is always 'hot' or powered and unswitched in a wall switch controlled recepacle situatation.

Tried a different mouse? Maybe the power outage fried it. pc2 mouse? If it the wirring is fried or the mother board for the mouse is fried then you could purchase a USB mouse if you have an available port.  Finally download the mouse driver and reload it first.   Any more questions please ask. Thanks

Desktop won't start after Hurrican IKE power outage

the only thing i can think of is the power supply got fried that is the most common problem when it comes to the pc not powering on. Now hopefully that is all that it fried and not the motherboard my suggestion is to take to local pc repair shop and have them change your power supply or you could put it in if you familiar with how the machine is wired.
