Question about Dryers

I have a kenmore elite gas dryer model 110.76962502 My dryer gets warm, but not hot. The burner runs for 30 - 90 seconds, then turns off. After a few minutes, it re-ignites and runs for a similar amount of time. The blower and exhaust duct are clean. I have replaced: the thermostat on the tube that surrounds the burner; the thermostat/moisture sensor and the fuse on the exhaust vent (just after the blower), and the gas coils. I can't find any problems with the ignitor - no cracks or anything. It is 5 years old. What is going on here, how do I fix it?

Did you replace the heat control thermostat? It mounts on the blower housing. Usually next to it is the thermal fuse. The thermostat on the burner flue is a limit. has nothing to do with drum temperature. The drum temperature is judged by another similar looking t-stat as the limit but is actually shuts down at 160f and starts back at 105f. This is your control thermostat right HERE. Look for it to be mounted here on newer modelsI have a kenmore elite - b83349b.jpg

On older standard models look for it here 56a553b.jpg

You have a bad control most likely or maybe corrosion at the connections. Try removing connections to the control unit and reconnecting them.

Hi,

The ignitor is probably the problem...you see the gas valve goes on and is kept on only if the ginitor pulls X.XX amps of power.... this is a very tight tolerance and if it pulls any more or less then the allowed it will shut down...as the ignitor heats up it will often fall below this threshold and cause the gas valve to drop out....it recycles the ignitor cools and the process starts all over again...
So in short change the ignitor...

checkout this gas no heat tip....

Dryer heats for 5 minutes then no heat, but keeps tumbling

Perhaps the flame sensor is not working. If it does not sense heat, it will shut off the gas. You might go online and search for a manual to help you troubleshoot, or go to:

for troubleshooting help and parts. I hope this is of help to you.

I need the installation manual for a Kenmore Elite Oasis gas dryer. Specifically I need to know what water line attaches to the dryer (for steam), the hot or the cold?

Hello, Here's the link to view the owners manual and exploded view of the parts for your model. Once there, click on the exact model # you have (it's listed on your dryer's data plate) so you get the right one.

My Kenmore gas dryer runs but it does not dry.

Obviously make sure the gas supply valve is open and gas is going to the unit.
Then determine if the burner is lighting at all... there is a small plastic plug in the lower left of the front panel. If you remove this plug you can see the burner assembly.
When the drier powers up you should see a glow plug that gets red hot, then a click (the solenoid opening) then the burner should light and you should see a blue flame.
If this does not happen, the glow plug will go out and then in a minute or so, the process will start again with the glow plug and the click.
If this cycle repeats without ANY lighting of the burner, you need to replace the burner assembly and/or safety valve... send the model number and I'll show you the parts.
If the burner lights for a few seconds and then extinguishes, it is probably a faulty flame sensor, which is a probe extending into the path of the burner flame about in the middle of the burner assembly (It makes sure the flame is lit and if it doesn't get hot enough it closes the gas valve to avoid filling your laundry area with gas). You can try cleaning it, and then replacing it. Again if you give me the model # I can help you...

Dryer not drying

First thing to check is the vent. Make sure you have sufficient air flow to the outside. If you are not sure if you have the proper rate of flow, disconnect the vent from the dryer, turn dryer on and see if burner stays on longer. Do this with a couple of damp, spun-dry towels inside the drum. If the burner short cycles again, you need to replace the coils on top of the burner assembly. These are the two black round coils.
