Hi there!

When it is warm, use a spray cleaner and paper towel to wipe up the grease.
Wooden or non-stick spatulas make excellent scraping tools to take the worst off first.

Use paper towel to wipe up.

For really stubborn deposits, use an oven cleaner - and cover with plastic film. Check in 1 hour, and clean as above.

Soda Crystals dissolved in hot water are excellent at cutting through grease, but may affect aluminium. They work out cheaper than many commercial products.

Hope this helps you.

If you use stainless steel griddle then clean it with soapy water and nylon scrubber. But for cast iron griddle use paper towel and hot water, clean it properly and dry the surface.

if it has slightly raised sides or a fat drain
let it heart up and then used water on the hot surface to steam loosen the crud
you could put a bit of washing up detergent in the water ( just a few drops )to assist in breaking down the surface tension and release any grease
The same as cleaning a BBQ plate before using it

How to use both sides of the weber cast iron griddle

After both sides are seasoned, you simply remove the necessary grill grates and replace them with the griddle. Or set it right on top of the grates. However, the grease drain hole may not work that well, when sitting on top of the grates. Since the ones that I have seen look the same on both sides, I don't see any advantage in using both sides. Certainly would make it harder to keep seasoned.

I have a griddler that has been used for greasy cooking--looks baked on. How do I clean the griddler? Water won't do it.

The best way to clean a griddle caked with grease is to turn it on and let it get hot. Then turn it off and while still hot, use a non abrasive cleanser (aka Comet, Bon Ami) with a nylon scrubber to cut through the grease. If the griddle does not have a non stick surface, you can get "screens" to work the grease free. This is what is used on professional grills (usually on a nightly basis). If all else fails, most oven cleaners will do a nice job.

Can you cook hamburgers and pork chops on the griddle hot plate?..if so, should there be a drip pan beneath the holes in the griddle to catch the grease?

There should be a drip pan already but remove the griddle and line it with aluminum foil that way you can just roll up the foil and throw away and you don't have to clean the drip pan. If you cook pork you need to cover with a lid and you want to make sure you get the meat hot enough to be safe, get a thermometer from Wal Mart and it will have a probe and the temp the meat has to be in order to be safe. Chicken is 160 beef is 140 and I don't eat pork and don’t know the exact temp for it but the problem will have it on it. If this helped please rate me.
