Will not turn on, with or without charging

The Nuvi 25x5 is well known for having issues with the rear USB port becoming loose or disconnected from the PC board. This will prevent the unit from powering up when connected to an external charging source. It will also prevent the internal battery from being able to be charged, so when the battery has exhausted its charge, the unit will be dead. This can be repaired. My unit shuts off automatically seconds after I power it up and hot the menu The battery appears to be charged. Any ideas for troubleshooting?

Shutting off immediately would be an indicator that the battery is not charged or bad. Using the USB connection, connect to a suitable device such as a PC and allow a few minutes to charge. Turn unit on and see if conditions remains. It should be able to run even with a bad dead battery with supplied power from the USB. If you are successful allow the battery to charge. If after charging and removing the USB connector the GPS fails to remain on you may have to use a USB adapter in the 12 VDC receptacle in the car to operate.

Low battery

You need to plug it into to the cigarette lighter or your pc. I take mine in the house and connect it to the pc to charge, but it will charge with the cigarett lighter too.

While connected to my PC, the 4350 suddenly powered down and the unit screen went blank. The PC now says it does not recognize the device and the 4350 will not power up. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem.
when you plug the GPS in to the UBS of the computer it does not charge it, so if you were like me and didnt have a full charge and the battery runs out the computer will not "see"it.
When I go to back up my gps I make sure it has a full charge, that should do the trick!

Battery losing charge whilst plugged in to cig lighter

I have the same problem, when the battery goes dead, it seems to do so instantly vs. just holding the charge for less time. You can replace the battery, but with the prices coming down and the fact that the map upgrades cost what they do, I'm thinking it's more cost effective to just buy a new GPS.

When plugged into pc get error on pc power surge on usb hub port

Some computers have a limited power capacity on the USB ports, another possibility is that your gps battery is too low to be charged via the USB connection, try charging it with a wall or car adapter first, then connect to your pc.

I turn it on, logo comes on, and it turns off. I've tried holding the on button 8 sec, no luck.

With the limited information provided, a simple first step is to make sure the internal battery is either fully charged or is in a condition to accept a charge. When the internal battery's charge is allowed to below a certain level, it will no longer be capable of accepting a charge via the car charger.

The battery can be conditioned to accept a charge easily, however. This is done by connecting the GPS to the computer via USB port, NOT the car charger. Some Garmin GPS units come with a 120 volt charger that connects to the USB port of the GPS - this method is also an acceptable charge / condition method. Leave the GPS connected for 8 hours or longer (over night) and try to power up again.

I hope this helps!

Forerunner 305 keeps beeping, turning on and off every 5 seconds

I think I had the same problem. You do not write if your device were connected to the PC. My device was, and I finally got the suspicision, that it died because the battery was so low, that it crashed when the PC polled it as an usb unit.
So, I connected the unit directly to the charger unit that came with the unit, and now it works. So, try to connect directly to your charger, when your battery is totally drained.

Garmin gps won't charge while driving

If the Nuvi won't charge when connected to charge but charges on USB, then the charger port is faulty.

If the Nuvin does not charge at all , then the battery must be replaced.
